Yes. Slides out springs open. No lock.

hmm I haven't open that memory card door ever since I got a 8gb sdhc card...

So this is it. It will be the users problem if them found out that K-7 is compact maybe roughly the size of K-M +/-.

The grip will definitely be the problem for some.

The grip may not be as small as it may seem, as I compared my K20D with the DA35 attached (like the photo of the k-7 with DA35 attached).

For me personally, someone with big hands...I won't own a camera without a grip. That is, a camera I use a lot. Film cams are different since they don't get used for 400 shots in a day, for example.
