I think that saying that Pentax needs to step up to the level of Canon and Nikon is a little unfair in this respect, as Canon needs to step up their game nearly as much as Pentax does.
K-7 is top for Pentax. not for all DSLR world.

Nikon is the only choice for the serious flash photographer, at the moment imo. I think that saying that Pentax needs to step up to the level of Canon and Nikon is a little unfair in this respect, as Canon needs to step up their game nearly as much as Pentax does. Really, it's more of an embarrassment to Canon that they're pushing "pro" gear and they don't even bother to take flash sync seriously.
See, to me, that goes to show you it doesn't matter to most what the characteristics of the camera is. I have to admit, labeling Canikon "stupid" is a bit over-blown, but I haphazardly used that word thinking that their gears are not all that superior but people still bought them in boxes despite its price disadvantages in comparison to Pentax.

I cannot stress this enough. A good advertising and availability/visibility of the products are where it's at. I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference no matter how reasonable and superior your product is. If people don't get to hear about it and actually see it with their own eyes, it is always going to be an uphill battle, no matter which segment of the market you are after.

Looks like one understand what I mean. I only would say, that pentax needs to improve BASIC features in that price level.

May, 20 at 00.00 will give you answer.

K-7 has several speed modes.
Several speed modes looks like maybe 3 FPS at full resolution and 5 FPS in some crop (but not in RAW, jpeg only) and 25 FPS in mode like K20D with 1.6mpx resolution. This is only small evolution.

Hope it will be 5 FPS in full res and 10 FPS in crop with raw maybe 6mpx this will be revolution in this price level.

Do you really need 10 FPS in jpeg?

It's no for reporting, but why 20FPS with k20d in 1.6mpx? It's good only for school newspaper reports :-)

It was joke only. As I said 5-6 FPS will be fine.
