In terms of features, the Olympus E-3 comes closer than any other camera to the above description.

- 5 fps, 1/8000, 1/250-X
- In-body AS
- Weather seals
- 100% OVF
- LV with articulated LCD
- WB sensor
- PC sync socket
- Die-cast magnesium alloy body

The only features missing are:

- Video mode
- Contrast-detection AF
- Red-pattern AF assist
- AF micro-adjust
- 40~50 AF points
- Digital level
- 920K LCD

I don't see Pentax delivering the entire list, or even the majority of it, and I'm sure they won't include an articulated LCD. The E-3 replacement, on the other hand, has a very good chance of delivering all of these features, except the 40~50 AF points (which I personally don't need).

Prog.
our PENTAX with all its perceived "limitations/shortcomings" have brought out the creativeness and ingenuity in us trying to create good photographs. what some of us want are just convenience, features which reduce the fun in picture-taking. we should not forget that the old masters produced memorable pictures using what we call now as antiquated, primitive, obsolete equipment.i say it is still the photographer and not the equipment

My friend - Pentax dealer - got the specs.
He said that it's revolution for PENTAX.
how many times have we've seen this kind of post? but to start a thread like this? after all the other threads you've participated in already saying almost exact same things?

ogl, i'm sorry, but you're only confirming what others have been saying about you lately. why did you start this "shh...i know a secret" thread if not for attention?

I wonder who's more ridiculous here - those who post again and again with no new info or we who read and comment all those posts?

My guesses...

I remembered this post from December 18, 2007. I'm wondering if this was all about the K-7? The K20D was already in production by then, so they must have been working on the K-7 at that time.

There obviously WAS two cameras, because the owner of a K10D would not have been THAt blown away by a K20D - impressed, but they're not that different, and this lack of chimping thing leads me to believe it has some sort of 'heads-up' display in the viewfinder....perhaps. Or it was the multi-focussing video mode which someone else mentioned already.

It IS intriguing...Ben said it's great, then shut his big yap....

Probably, like the Limiteds, no weather sealing...

One drawback, but many plusses it looks like. And it's about time to return to the 250 sync speed, which we haven't seen since the PZ-1!!!

Cheers,
Cameron

no, then the WR kit lens it's coming with wouldn't make any sense.

I know, it is solar powered! so Pentax finally solved the low light AF finally but making a camera will turn off itself when there is not enough light!

How's THAT for irony?! I would enjoy the laugh if that ended up happening.

Exactly.

Just trying to "make a name" as one who has the "inside" info...but won't tell.

Remember in grade/middle school...going up to someone and saying "I have a secret about you and [someone else] but I can't say what it is!" This is ogl.

I've come to grips with it

But seriously...there's no new info in this thread, as usual.

"all-in-one, semi-pro" — sounds like a decent backup camera to me, not saving my euros, just yet...

not gonna happen. 99.99% of all things never live up to the hype. It also depends on which aspects of the hype you believe in...
