At the moment it would have to offer A LOT over the K20D - well, considering the rumoured price it would have to be twice as good! Can't see that personally!

I think I'd be better off with a K20D + DA55 (which would still leave me some change!!)
Estimated price could be killing for pentax. If it will be higher then competition with lack of basic & standard functions, there will be no new buyers.

It's too early to make decision. I may skip this upgrade unless its IQ is better than K20D.

Yes it's too early, but I can't skip this upgrade. I've got K10D and i need better IQ & basic functions. So I hope K-7 will be very good camera. In other case I've to skip to competition :-/

Why would I want to buy a complicated technical electronic instrument with innumerable variables w/o knowing ANY specs for sure?!!!!!!!
AT THE VERY LEAST I'd wait till the specs are published before I make a decision to even consider buying it. Even more likely I'd wait to see some real world examples of what the camera can do.
As it is, all we have now is a bunch of hot air and speculation.

I did. It served me well until a tree decided to cross the road when I was coming..

Hi to every one

Greetings from Portugal to every one!

My first post here in the forum.
I've been reading the rumors about the k7.
I have a k100d for my personal use, and it works just fine as a regular photographic tool.
As i work in a video/multimedia company, my work is at "25 photos per second",
and most of the time i use a Sony EX1 with a 35mm adapter and the gorgeous pentax primes 28mm 2.8 and 50mm 1.7 to take the thin dof, and the photography that's impossible to achieve with the video camera alone.

So, if that k7 is able to record full HD video at 24 fps or higher, with a compression that doesn't destroy the image...i will get one in the first day it is available.

I know that some of you are to conservative about video work with a DSLR, but believe me, i'm a photographer at 25 fps, not a videographer...and there are
many like me wainting for this k7.

Count me in !

I will be selling my older Pentax digital cameras (DS's) and getting the K-7 if the rumors I hear are close to true.

Not sure if I'll sell my K10D's, but if the K-7 is light years ahead, I will (and I think it will be).

I want a small body :-)
Better metering
Faster AF
Much better sensor than K10D at high iso's
Weather sealing
250 sync
Live view (an important feature for me)

Looking forward to the 21st of May !

If it has 1080p at 24fps or higher I will get it as soon as it's available.

With all those leaked information...
Sorry, it's rather hard to know what is leaked information as the forum is full of rumours, more rumours based on previous rumours, hopeful thinking, trolling and joking about camera specs.

You say your specs are correct, but to me it's just another rumour until the official announcement.

If it has fast reliable AF I will buy it, if not, I have no interest, I don't care what other features it has.

Since I am still using the K10D, and this isn't being 'sold' as the K20D replacement, I may actually be inclined to buy Pentax's 2 new DSLR bodies, the K-7 and whatever the K20D replacement it. I wouldn't mind having a stunning studio camera and a rugged hiking/outdoor camera, and the X70 as the backup for both.

No, unless the release of the K-7 means that the K20D I bought in December last year will instantly stop working on May 21st.

I'd love to but still need more information on it. Plus I just bought the K-M in November so dh wouldn't be too impressed with me wanting another camera. Honestly after taking some photography courses this winter I realize that I should have waited to get the K-m and maybe just jumped to this new one. I went from a K110D to the K-m and I love it but I can see that I'm going to outgrow this K-m within a year or two.
