Beware of the trap

Don't look at the K20D photo you posted. Take your K20D and look at it directly.

You'll notice that it will look exactly as the mirror box in the K-7 press kit photo (which shows the reflected ground plate) and not like in the K20D photo you posted. Even the faint details coming from the ocular are the same ...

I think the differences are due to the fact that the K-7 press kit photo was taken from a slight angle and not exactly horizontally (like the K20D photo).
Mmm....

I still think I'm right though. Proof: what with the loose space below what you call the mirror in the K-7 photo? I have changed the screens in K10D's and K20D's many times.

Edit: on the other hand it would be strange that the screen does not have a tab. So maybe it cannot be proven from these photos, as the K-7 can be completely different as far as the mirror box goes.
Maybe the mirror "canvas" is bigger to be "future FF-compliant".

WARNING: Not a FF rumor!

Doable, yes. But don't get your hopes up too high

You can see the clip of the screen holder.
The holder is down.
At the top is only a black hole in which the clip snaps in.

If the ground plate (canvas) would be bigegr, so the mirror and the box which the mirror sits in.

Because the box is the thing which can be measured the best (from the photo -- closest to mount opening, least parallax error), I'll say no difference in size here...

EDIT:
Not necessarily correct.
The mirror box must be large enough for the 100% APS-C sensor already. So, please ignore what I have written above

As for SAFOX VIII or IX - the K-m has, technically (hardware), the same AF system as the *ist DL2. But, it has new software algorithms which makes it faster, especially in low light. Still, it isn't called SAFOX IX.

If the system is technically, hardware, the same as previous versions but uses new software algorithms, Pentax can still use the old name. But if it also has new hardware (new sensors, new AF processor etc.) a new name is used.

Most important is that there is an improvement, and it will be, rather than if it is having VIII or IX. The version number itself does not say about the performance, as the K-m shows.

But yes, it is confusing for the user. Perhaps Pentax should simply call it SAFOX and leave it there.

blende8, didn't you think I noticed this as well and took into account Come on, by now, you should know me better

If taken from the angle the K-7 photo was taken at, the clip isn't visible directly anymore (becomes hidden due to parallax). But its reflection in the mirror becomes visible.

As I said, try it out with your K10D/K20D

So, you do see the mirror (actually not because it is too black) and the reflected ground plate (which is a better measure anyway). But because you don't know the shooting distance (the perspective error), you still cannot determine its size relative to the mount size. Not if we speak 95% vs. 100% here. (You could still determine a minimal coverage assuming an infinite shooting distance, though ... -- by comparing gound plate image to mount opening; but I doubt the figure will be larger than 95%)

One part finally completed. Now we can sum it up for the other missing pieces of the puzzle.
