Okay, No More Leak of the K-7, Its Time to Sum it Up!

Whilst I have already published all those known things which are almost 100% certain at my Blog for tens days now, there are many other more important things about the K-7 which are still not yet known. So, based on what I have heard so far. Here they are:

Sensor: 14.6 to 15 MP new Samsung sensor - debugged version of the old one used in the K20D: Less Noisy, More Functions for LV and Movie

Metering System: New 77-segment 7x11 (Seven Eleven? ;->) equally divided metering system - more advanced

AF System: Still SAFOX VIII 11-point AF hardware with tweaked AF software algorithms and should respond faster and better at low light

WB System: New More Advanced and Accurate Auto WB system and algorithms

HD Video: uncertain about 1920x1080 or 1280x720, no one talks about the frame rates concretely so far. (Whilst it is certain the Movie is there)

Viewfinder: 100% and 1.0X *Traditional* Optical Viewfinder

Any other things that you have heard that are "sensible"??

It seems that the leak-proof works of Hoya/Pentax have been doing very well this time, and we hear no more new news these few days! :-(

Maybe we have to wait until May 18 or 19, i.e., just a few number of days before May 21 that we can know more.. Too bad..

I think that unit is the AF assist spotbeam, not the external WB detector. If it is, it should be made with plastic milky white cover, but not a transparent one.

It is expected that the Canon 40D replacement (60D and 7D rumored) will have the same video specs as the 5D mkii (less the full frame). It is also expected that the 5D mkii will get a firmware upgrade.

I think that would set the mark for the K-7's video. The new Canon will be a direct competator. If Pentax does not match the frame rate or the focus system of the new Canon, they will need to make sure the video is well up to par, as is the image quality.

So, you mean the new Samsung CMOS sensor has dual or more channels?

But, isn't that only CCD is "channel" related? Please correct me if I'm wrong. :-)

1080 or 720? Progressive Scan?

Not True? I measured the mirror size and divided it with the K20D's one. It is just that!

I don't see any particular reason to believe any of that, Ricehigh, except about the viewfinder. Which the photos we have correspond to the known patent about. It probably does something very nice for its size, which looks to be at least standard.

Video appears to be there, it's probably HD, cause... why not.

Not buying much else of your summary, per se, haven't seen any 'leaks' that say much to that stuff.

Actually, leaks are done till the announcement. This is all cleverly timed so that those who purport to be fans but actually just want to harsh on every new thing that comes out for their fandom... will be plum tuckered out from their public service efforts in the weeks following new X Men, Star Trek, and Terminator movies.

- may be)

1080 or 720? Progressive Scan?
- i think not interlaced, but maximum hor. lines neither 720, nor 1080.

Not True?
- partially

Sorry, but I am compelled to talk in riddles, and sorry for my English

Well, you're not 'compelled' to talk at all.

I'm not sure if you mean "I think it's not interlaced" or "I think not, it's interlaced"

As for the resolution, if it's not 720 or 1080 I would think that leaves only 640x480??

I don't personally care much about the video mode, but VGA can't look good from a marketing standpoint, not when your competition is touting HD.
