1/500 synch or better?

I think I remember reading from someone with "inside" info that it had a 1/500 flash synch speed, but maybe I dreamed it. I believe the poster eluded to very low ISO options too, like 25 and 50 ISO. Have either of those features been semi-confirmed? If so, this will be a very popular camera with outdoor strobe users.

I'm so buying this camera because I think my k10d needs to rest. It's a very good camera and I like it but it's way too slow for what I'm doing and I need more DR than K10D can deliver.

Also I hope for 1/250 or 1/320 sync speed, 1/500 would be mindblowing but I don't think they are so far ahead in shutter-technology

Another thing they MUST fix is the cold shoe, I hate the fact that all pentaxcameras turn off the coldshoe/sync-port at higher speeds that's exceeding x-sync. It bugs me sometimes when I really need faster syncspeeds like photographing in bright sunlight were you can just arrange the frame so the shutter doesn't give a black bar.

CAnikon doesn't turn off the cold shoe for example. It keeps working at all shutterspeeds.

Ditto that - David Ziser has been using that to his advantage for years. I always wanted to try it but alas... I'm a Pentax shooter.

It's unfortunately not that simple. The sensor capabilities that allowed this in the D40 are not present in more recent sensors. The D40 was actually the last camera to offer this, and no other Nikon camera has had such a high sync-speed since. Even the D3x is limited to 1/250s.

I'm not sure if you mean "I think it's not interlaced" or "I think not, it's interlaced"

As for the resolution, if it's not 720 or 1080 I would think that leaves only 640x480??

I don't personally care much about the video mode, but VGA can't look good from a marketing standpoint, not when your competition is touting HD.
640x480 would be a joke since consumer hybrid dual cameras costing $450 like the Sanyo VPC-FH1 shoot 1080p 60fps and up to 4000x3000 12mp stills with 16x optical video zoom and swivel 3" widescreen LCD.
