Thanks for the concern Rui, but i always do an in camera formating when putting in a new card
Thanks. That's a correct thing to do. It hadn't crossed my mind, maybe because I only have one body.

For paid work I regularly run two.
It has just become a habit of mine regardless of number of bodies

Well, dual cards would be nice, though I don't imagine the size of the door necessarily means much, it could be for pure design reasons.

CF cards wouldn't particularly bother me, it seems a little frivolous to worry about the size of something that small, (Frankly, I'm always worried I'm gonna drop or lose these teeny things, but I also don't see any particular reason to change things at this late juncture. Leaves more room for other stuff in the camera. )

Thats a huge door for one SD card... IMO
It looks like the same door as the Pentax K-m have.

I think all new Pentax dSLR models will look more or less like the current K-m.
May 21. we will have the K-7. I'm more curious what comes after the K-7 model.

Well, I suppose it really depends on if that new prism design I'm pretty convinced is in the K-7 gets applied to other models, (and if it works with a pentamirror, if that remains the thing in the smaller models.) ...but you might see that K-7 shape on more models.

I think there's been murmurings of a K20 update later in the year, and there's kind of a conspicuous gap in the K200 segment. The K-m's still pretty new, so I'd expect that shape to be around a while.

A couple guesses I might have is that we'll end up seeing either a K300d, or maybe the K20 body *becomes* the camera in that range. The way it looks to me, across the industry, such things as the K-M and other companies' four-digit bodies have become the new 'entry level' ...and the former entry-level a la the K200d, no longer has to do quite so much double-duty (for beginners who want scene modes and an uninitmidating number of controls, plus those more serious about photography who just plain can't afford the fancier models.) If they can afford to sell K20ds for like seven hundred bucks and change *now,* why not keep doing that and call it the mid-range? They're still kicking butt for the price point.

Another possibility I could see is they put the K20d's sensor in essentially something like the K200d, and maybe make the K20d chassis into something else that still wants to be a little bigger.

If the K-7 uses the same style door as the Km/K200D, I wonder how that will affect weather resistance...

WHy? Are 32gb SDHC cards not enough for you? If you wanna shoot video then great, for pictures it isn't a necessity...

The question I have with Ricehigh's illustration is will the K-7 be weathersealed? It sure doesn't look that way with the slide back SD card door. The K-10D and K-20D both have twist lock card doors for their SD cards and are weathersealed. That illustration looks like a step backwards.

K200D has a slide door on a hinge and is weather sealed. Tab-lock doors don't appeal to me at all.

SDXC is also a couple of times faster at the worst of times.

Not for the size but for the speed. Initial SDXC cards should have around 50-100mb/s write speeds.

I don't understand how it could be - unlimited video and SDHC?
Max. size of FAT32 = 4 Gb.

SDXC - yes - approx. 104 MB/s.

Actually FAT16 has a max of 4 GB. FAT32 can take you up to 32GB.

O...I made mistake... 4 GB and above SDHC is FAT32. Am I right?
It means that K-7 can write video with 32 Gb SDHC unlimited. Not as 5D Mk II.
