The leaked pictures from the pre-release K20D were from a press event which was publicly known about. One of those journalists broke their embargo. Looks like this time around they're being careful that this doesn't happen again. I don't think it's necessarily a case of "best NDA ever" — just specific lesson learned.

I think they don't want image samples from unfinished firmware like with the K20D, where it came under some fire for IQ.

The K-7s are already there in hands of beta testers worldwide. But Pentax have not released any specs for the K-7 to anyone up till now. They just gave them the beta cameras (firmware version 0.2).

You can say that its the best NDA ever for the control and security level attained for those beta testers. But as for those leaked pictures, I would say almost all the pictures distributed are already leaked, either in various cropped forms or in post-processed manners.

The beta testers do not have those pictures sent to them by Pentax. Pentax sent some simple pictures to major dealers worldwide (also).

Maybe they changed something inside of K7 and one can't take a good, not blurry photo? But if it's true that it has the same CMOS, we shouldn't expect too much difference to K20 picture quality.

The K-7 uses a Mk II version of the sensor in the K20D. It is not identical, it is an improved version. Also the image processor is new and the image pipeline is new plus the circuit board is redesigned, which makes for lower surface noise and thus lower noise at high ISO.

Ok. That's what we know from the scpecs leaked. But I can bet that in terms of Dynamic Range or real resolution there is no improvement.

Not really. AFAIK, the factory specs has not yet distributed.

Of course, true insider knows, whom I mean Pentax staff (those decision makers).

Beta testers can know more as they have accessed to the beta cameras but still they can't know more about the specs unless they inspect and measure (but then those are not factory specs then).
