Absolutely, and it confused me quite a bit since I'm in a different timezone than Pentax USA.
May 20th 7am on the east coast means 0:00 on the International Date Line (GMT +12, the reference time), which means it will already be May 21th in Japan (3am). Makes sense as the date on the Japanese website is May 21th.
That would be 1pm here and it's good news as I certainly wouldn't get up at 7am to see the countdown hit zero

Edit: ok everything above is wrong. I forgot the daylight saving time and I think the counter at Pentax Imaging USA is borked. It seems to me it's accurate only if you are in the Japanese timezone. The real announcement time would be May 21th 0:00 in Japan, so May 20th 5pm here in Paris, and 11am in NY.
(So Mike.P® is right, it's 4pm GMT - with DST)

To my eye the most beautiful airplane ever built - and flys as well as it looks, I read.

Hats off to people like (us) you.

The announcement for a Chinese website is May 20 10pm, which is 5.20 10am EST. So you will get the low down at worst at that time.

did you guys had the same excitement before the K20D or is this camera really is a BIG deal.

I mean they did not even changed the sensor... I would think that the K20D from k10D would be bigger news

5am PST? Um, no. The last earthquake we had at 5am didn't get me out of bed.

I'll read about it here. Somehow, that's more fun anyway.

K20D was "DA BOMB".
K-7 is "The Revelation".

I hope Pentax skips the 'K-9' model - we'll never hear the end of it!

Counter on pentaximaging.com is buggy!

Counter on pentaximaging.com is buggy!

Time left depends on time set on user computer, not the server time. On the same moment for user in Europe counter says 2 days 22 hours 30 minutes, for someone on Eastern coast in USA it shows 3 days 4 hours and 30 minutes and for someone in California it displays 3 days 7 hours and 30 minutes

According to countdown on Pentax Deutschland, countdown will stop at 6:00 UTC on 20th of May. Which means 8:00 in Western Europe, 2:00 on Eastern USA coast and 23:00 of May 19th in Western Coast.

Yeah, why not. We can have a party, get a little toasted, do the countdown and watch the ball drop in Times Square...

EDIT: Or I could just go to work as usual and read about it when I get home... (boooooring....)

Well if it's at 7 AM EDT, I'll be at work, on the phone with someone from NY City transit, trying to explain to them that the widget they want for the R160 subway car was intentionally vandalized by NYCT personnel, and NYCT will have to pay for it.

Not this year much to my annoyance an disgust. But I have plans to go to Wright Patterson and Oshkosh again next year (2010). It's getting close to the time where I need to make reservations.

Having gone for the first time in 2007, it was very difficult to stomach the reality of not being able to go every year. Let's just say my behaviour was downright bratty.

An amphibious Mustang, eh? Maybe one on floats? I think that 1600hp Merlin will pull you nose first into the water on take-off...

And we'll all glad you all invest so much time, effort, and cash (of course) on your obsession. We'll be in Dayton again next year, I think, but just to the museum. With luck, my daughter and SIL will fly up to Oshkosh in 2010 with their now-under-repair '41 Stearman. This year we all drive. Keep 'em flying !!
