I'd probably be doing my usual evening surfing by that time anyway, so I might keep a tab open for the timer.

As an aside, if wll's thread got moved, isn't it only fair that this thread be moved to Everything Else too? I find the tone of the thread similar. Not being anal about it and I really don't have any underlying motives (from how I see the OP in these forums, he seems to be a good chap), but I just thought it would be fair to wll. Either location of the thread's fine with me.

As of 2:30PM Central today, Pentax USA's countdown says 7 days 16 hours while Pentax Spain's says 8 days 1 hour. So who's right? Methinks somebody misread the memo and converted to local time

actually, AFAIK the counter relates to your system time, means it is not considering your time zone when visiting the site.

And, you can get it to count to zero now, just change your system date and time, at least some on german forums have tried it

Edit: as by 22:00 GMT+2 the USA counter tells me 7 days 9 hours ;-)

Then somebody made a mistake. Counters should always be based on an absolute time for all users, not by user's time zone. The announcement is "X" amount of time away from now, whether I'm in the US, Spain, or Siberia. It's a simultaneous worldwide release after all. Or is it?

Edit: looks like Pentax USA made the mistake then if their counter changes based on time zone.

Obsessed? Dunno about that, but I am interested to know what's going down. As a photography nut, I'm always excited to hear news about any new technology or model from *any* company.

It's not like my eyes are forever glued to the countdown timer or that I'm already starting to make a line at my nearest photo store waiting for the first shipment of this camera to come in (like how other people did for the iPhone, Star Wars Episode I, XBox 360, PS3, et al). Now that's obsession.

Early AM ?

That's about the time they turn on gravity, if memory serves.

I'll be in bed taking a nice, careful approach to the day (much like Onslow) whilst Pentaxians overload these servers with love it/hate it posts. And half of those will mention FF.

RH, I suspect you will be vindicated.

Cheers!

No.

I'll be on a cruise somewhere in Alaskan waters.

I'm sure the announcement will still be there when I dock in Vancouver.

However, if I wasn't going away, I would, just because I'm curious.

Turned that Mustang into an amphibian? I'd love to see it come into harbour.

BTW, will you be in Oshkosh this year?

Not this year much to my annoyance an disgust. But I have plans to go to Wright Patterson and Oshkosh again next year (2010). It's getting close to the time where I need to make reservations.

Having gone for the first time in 2007, it was very difficult to stomach the reality of not being able to go every year. Let's just say my behaviour was downright bratty.

An amphibious Mustang, eh? Maybe one on floats? I think that 1600hp Merlin will pull you nose first into the water on take-off...

We're obsessed. It's people like us that keep people like us going!!!
