something interesting?

I'm thinking this has something to do with changing autofocus modes.

The hexagon is Pentax's "in focus" indicator.

Oh, please, please let it be my auto-hyperfocal idea.

I hate the current SR lever... the Mrs is forever turning it off accidently. Drives me nuts and she doesn't check it enough which ends up effecting her shots. If it's menu based then I'm all for it!

No. Nothing interesting there. Not much novelty, either...

Has anyone yet suggested that the hexagonal button could be for mirror lock-up?

Good for SR and added feature. Hexagonal are your Custom image setting. You know the web that you adjust for Bright, Vibrant, natural, etc.

I'm going to be very annoyed if theres dedicated WB and not dedicated SR, unless it does really have a SR panning sensor, but for very short pans, how could the sensor know if its shake or you panning? Although all the discussion about different bits does seem to be showing the different ways people use cameras, quite a lot of people never disable SR it seems, some change their WB a lot or change AF points a lot (I do neither, most of my lenses are MF and I shoot RAW or Auto WB). Its quite interesting to see the different styles of using a camera people have, it must make designing cameras for everyone a real pain

Maybe upon survey that most people doesn't turn off the SR except when using tripod. So unless there's a sensor or switch near the tripod screw point that it detects tripod is used it turn off the SR.

If OGL says SR has been imporved, then short/long Pan or Shake would not be a problem

Indeed, many people will like the interesting new features of the improved SR system.

I used to be amazed by the rampant speculations at Canon forums. But in past weeks this forum seems to have surpassed that by a long margin

In this particular case we have a couple of pictures for which there is no evidence at all that they are pictures of the new camera. Yet the layout etc on these pictures is being discussed and debated in so much detail as if they are the official photographs of the camera

The RAW button seemed like a nifty idea until I discovered that it reset every time I hit the play button (even if I set it to "persists" in the custom fn menu). Maybe bracketing has migrated to the Fn menu along with the drive settings?
What does drive button do anyway - is it changing between single shot, continous shooting (hi/lo), shooting with timer (2/12 sec). If so then bracketing must have moved there (as in k200d - i have never missed bracketing button anyway).

They have implemented AF within SR so the SR-system now can compensate for back and forth movement, not only side-/up-/down-/rotary movement. Perfect for handheld macro.

I forget to do it myself a lot of time. Maybe if Pentax told us why we're supposed to turn it off when using a tripod I might remember.
mayb there is a sensor that switches SR on and of when a tripod mount is near the camera..
