K7 Size comparisons

Not too sure if it should be posted here, but I guess the K7 is at least still news..

I've done some side by side pasting of different bodies in the attached images. They've been resized based on the width of the bordies with the following formula: (size in mm) * 2 = number pixels wide. I think it's correct. If you find anything wrong about the size please let me know.

EDIT: I've uploaded a fullsize composite image with all bodies on flickr:

Pentax K7 - 130.5mm
Pentax K20D - 141.5mm
Pentax K200D - 133.5mm
Canon 5D mkII - 152.0mm
Canon 50D - 145.5mm
Nikon D300 - 147.0mm
Nikon D700 - 147.0mm
Olympus E3 - 142.5mm
Olympus E30 - 141.5mm

Would be ace if they were all relative instead of just line compaisons as I'm pretty sure the K-7 looks bigger in the top line that the bottom one?...

Good Work!

It's just an optical illusion, because the surrounding Olympus cameras are much bigger.

Great job sveinmb, great job Pentax!

If there is any problems with the forum resizing the images to 850 pixels width, I've uploaded a complete image with all bodies in one on flickr:

The size is too small and the big back-dial is removed. Perhaps I have to wait a little bit for the K30D, which may keep the same style as K20D.

You'll have to wait forever for that, I guess rumour consensus is that the next camera will also be a completely new model which will replace K200D and K20D (probably with better-than-K20D specs but controls more like K200D, e.g. scene modes etc.).

I have big hands, but I'm not afraid that the camera is too small (at least not before I've actually hold one in my hands). Also, what do you mean with "the big back dial is removed"? The focus mode dial? Is that a big issue?

That might be true, no one knows when the next new camera will come out. And also it's better to have some hand in experience to make the comments.
Probably this back image reminds me the back of X70, which decreases the impression of "pro". But anyway this is just a temporary feeling.

Less buttons look less pro, but on the other hand, a semi-pro camera with a big LCD and very compact size simply needs to reduce the number of buttons in order to stay ergonomically sane. I'm not that happy with the placement of the AF and exposure.comp. buttons on my K10D, the new layout looks promising to me.

AE-L button is in a much better spot I think--right under your thumb.

Looks like they just made the dial smaller. Kind of makes sense to wrap the AF-select dial around the AF button.

Most importantly to me, and maybe I'm just clumsy and my K20D isn't yet as second nature to me as my K110D was, but the AF isn't RIGHT NEXT to a similarly sized button, and now that it's surrounded by a ridge, I'm hoping I won't have issues with hitting the stinking exposure compensation button and getting irritated when my camera won't focus!
