Real photographers don't need root access to get their shots.

Oh, this just hurts.

On a related note:

Anyway, seriously, I heard that there would be lens-specific CA and distortion adjustment available, but lately I've been hearing that this will only be available on DA and D-FA lenses - what's the latest consensus on that?

Because it occurs to me that the lenses that need the least CA adjustment are the DA lenses. It would be nice to have that available for the FA and 3-rd party lenses.

It would be a huge piece of work to measure all 3rd party lenses characteristics in terms of CA, distortion and/or vignetting and then add them into a (firmware upgradable) database.

I am also quite sure that FA lenses won't be part of the deal as they are a "thing of the past".

to bad for me (I only have M42 and FA lenses...) but anyway, I guess that all this is jpeg only stuff so I wouldn't use it that much.

It will probably be included as development options in PPL... but if they haven't rebuilt this piece of software from the ground up, I don't think many people will benefit from it.

EDIT: Hey!! I just discovered I managed to bash the K-7 (in a way...)!! Yay!!

It can do 5.2 fps on RAW/DNG too, but only up to 15/14 frames.

the RMB 8000 quoted in the other thread = U$1200.
where does it say that? Where does it say 5.2FPS RAW?

Well, I am glad there is another photographer out there that knows what I'm talking about.
Add another one to the list...

Being able to see "outside the box" was one of the many features I loved about the Sigma SD10 (and still love about my Leicas).

If it weren't for its low light image "quality"(), I might still be shooting with that lovely Foveon...

Best,
Michael

PS: Not bashing anything, I just like that feature...

I don't understand why the 1/180 second flash sync is so bad. Can't you just use high speed sync on your 540, 360, or 200FGZs?

HSS losses alot of range to start, next in studio if you want to catch motion the higher the flash sync the better. Next lets say your birding with a 300mm hand held, higher sync the better again, or just doing fill flash in bright sunlight and don't want to stop down the aperture too much, that extra stop of flash sync is just noice!!

I can go on all day about that 1/2 stop extra 1/250 would give.
