I'm not bashing the camera based on it's specs. I'm just a bit disappointed that most of the hype was, well, over hyped.
5.2 FPS JPEG
That is sad. Why is this camera $1500? Is the grip included?
5.2 fps JPEG *or* RAW. So, yes 5.2 fps with RAW.
Why it is 1500 USD? Because it has a 100% optical viewfinder (very expensive), magnesium alloy body (also very expensive), movie mode and more expensive version of the sensor, plus it is truly weather sealed.

but economic in all countries down, people buy only food ! So price should be ~ 1200 USD and no more.

I am of course very dissapointed. A black camera with the brand name in white?
Now, that was just darn silly. Pentax should be in *red*!
Because of the wrong colour used for the brand name, the K-7 is doomed and won't sell.

I see many other Pentax DSLRs in the marketplace in the future, because the K-7 is so awesome. That's my only complaint.

1/180! not only is it slow but it isnt a valid value on my lightmeter so I have to use 1/160 instead to measure.

Its still a great camera its just annoying that the missed that one thing and it was something importatnt to me as well. and strange they improved the max speed and fps and not xsync.

also.. mjpeg.

Two things I don't like:

Battery incompatibility with previous models. I now have a total of four D-LI50-compatible batteries, and batteries were easy to come by since they were identical for Minolta models (And I think an Olympus model too?)

It retains the slow shutter speed noise reduction problem that the K20D introduced, specifically the fact that *you cannot turn it off*! SSNR never provided any visible benefit to me for fireworks shooting over turning it off on the K10D, but turning it off allowed me to catch a LOT more good shots during fireworks shows.

With the K20D (and apparently also the K7), the SSNR function locks out the camera for as long as whatever your last bulb exposure was.

My only real gripe is the change to the AF point selection setup. It's going to be a PITA to have to hit okay every time before I can select a point. Or maybe auto point selection will actually work worth a damn now.

That is all.

I just wanted to complain about the specs, the price and the looks of the k-7..

The specs vs the introduction price is simply too good, now there is no way I can make up an excuse not to get this camera. And it looks way too cool.. They should have crippled it, made it way more expensive or simply made it butt-ugly if you ask me.

Also, without a grip it will be like my k-m, with the grip it will completely replace my k10d - effectively making both of my dslrs obsolete (except for taking pictures of the new k-7 - unless I can rig up some sort of mirror-system allowing it to take pictures of itself).

To sum up: it sucks.. that's all, thank you..

(*Runs off to stand in line waiting outside the store..*)

Can we all get along?

But seriously, here's a clip of the incorrectly aligned specs.

my turn on bashing

Have to wait until July!!!

What was Hoya thing in showing us this camera and not let us buy it right away.

Then again, maybe they wanted to make it available for my birthday (in July)

Regards,
Luis

What are Pentax thinking? It has everything, yet one thing that is most important is not in the specs so I am disappointed!

Where is the Jedi Mind control for portrait shoots!!!!!! This I think is most important. Pentax you are lacking!
