1080i movie recording
No, the 1080i is for HDMI output only. Video is recorded in 720 30p.
But looks like you have manual controls.

If there is, I haven't found it. There's a menu item called "movie info overlay" as you can see in the live view menu, but I doubt that's something special. On this 0.20 firmware I can't tell what it does.

Peter, i really have to ask you....did you ever turn the DIGITAL PREVIEW position on? what happened if you did and did you see any options for it??

[Composition Adjust:] Can anyone provide an educated guess?
Perhaps it is to horizontally and/or vertically align the image, using the sensor shift?
There was speculation about this already.

5.2fps, 1080i movie recording, old-style squarish small body, AF assist, better AF! Seems all majorly requested features are finally in!

I'm just curious about the video quality. If it's better than the D90 I'll be drooling all over it!
There is no 1080i movie mode...

Hmmphm, HDR mode but is there any kind of possibility to change how the tonemapping is done? Sounds very dumb to leave out standard bracketing.

from the look of it, I think I prefer the backside of the K20D.
Also, the af switch on that bulge looks very ugly...
They goofed up big time here...

you are totaly wrong. Pentax made a little improvment in K-7 and now take big $$$ for it. When you compare pictures K20D and K-7 there won't be big differences, beleve me !!!

To be honest, there is very little difference in the images between modern DSLRs in the same class. Most of them including K20D and K-7 already produces excellent output. What gets people to upgrade is all the extra features, which may not dramatically improve the image output, but something we all want to have.

it's rather good price.
8000 RMB? Where's that mentioned? That's around $1200 when converted. I'll wet myself and will rush to buy one if that's MSRP.

I was hoping for more that 11 AF points and ISO 50, but the rest lived up to my expectations.
I'm definitely buying the K-7, sometime this fall.

By adding a light source type to its data range, and driven by a greatly improved algorithm, this AF system assures reliable, responsive autofocus operation superior in speed and accuracy to the previous system. The K-7 also incorporates an AF-assisting spotbeam projector in its built-in flash unit to improve autofocusing accuracy in the dark.
