Please correct me if I'm wrong, since I've only been following Pentax for a little while, but the 50-200 looks like it's going back to the styling of older K-mount lenses, particularly the pattern on the focus and zoom rings--dots instead of ridges. I think this is what Pentax meant when they said they'd redesign a few lenses to match the new body. The K-7 takes some style cues from classic Pentax, and so do the new lenses. Regardless, I like!
It seems more likely that they stole Samsung's knurled rubber design, instead of Pentax' own ribbed pattern

Stole as in took, because it's their factory.

The K-7 also incorporates an AF-assisting spotbeam projector in its built-in flash unit to improve autofocusing accuracy in the dark.
Just wondering, if I use an external flash (540), is this AF-assist light on the K-7 is just useless? which one will be better? can I choose which one to use, or maybe I can use both? any advantage on either way?

I guess this means that we can probably kiss the AF dependance/innacuracies in different light sources "buh-bye"!

I know this problem never existed in the first place but I am still happy Pentax took care of it...

Could one not simply record the 1080i HDMI feed into a suitable device if they wanted to?

No, because liveview most probably will be 480p to match the LCD of the camera. And it will probably not be 30fps either.

Why can't people understand that the 1080i mode is there to give you great _still_ images on your hdtv. Everything just has to be about video..

Because to my simple non-techie mind, I'm thinking -- if its just for still images, why couldn't it have simply been 1080p. Why pass an interlaced signal and have to go through the deinterlacer in the TV? Wouldn't you get a better still image if you simply passed 1080p and skipped the need to deinterlace?

It seems that sending 540 lines at 60fps (1080i) is easier than 1080p. With still images you won't see any difference between the two anyway.

In my Chinese original text I wrote that estimated price of the K-7 is going to be slightly over RMB8,000, not far from K20D's introductory price here in China a year ago. I bought my K20D shortly after it was available in China, for RMB8,300. Now it's only RMB4,xxx. I will wait for the K-7 to drop below RMB8K to start consider buying it as I will need to get new batteries and possibly a new grip for it.

If it comes in at the K20D's original MSRP, I won't complain. It's a reasonable price for all the fluff and for being, well, the best Pentax DSLR thus far.
