Yes, thatīs right, but DA50-200 are not in class with K10/20, more suitable on ist* DL/DS/K100.
But hopefully they have updated the lens optics as DA18-55 II and just call it DA50-200WR, without a II.

Iīm wonder if FA35 and FA50 are going WR too, since the pricechock in January FA35 and FA50 are now back to good old prices in Sweden, perhaps they sell out them because of the new FA35WR and FA50WR.

I think if anything is to be WR-ed next it will be the DA limiteds rather than the FA. If the FA 50 got WRed, it will compete with the DA*

The filter thread has changed to 49mm, so perhaps the optical formula has changed as well. I liked my 50-200 alot, very portable and light.
Besides, the way I would use the lens, the image would be degraded more from the mud and salt water on the lens than any optical imperfections...

Why not, they sell the FA lenses so why not?

In rain you probably use a fast lens, as FA50 or FA35...

Hope they come with DA17-70WR and DA55-300WR too,
because with long zooms you donīt have to change it so much
and get rain inside the camera.

I think the point of the lens is not the image quality. I have seen many posters ask the question "should I get Pentax, it's weather sealed?" The question from the Canon/Nikon camps is "sure, but can you afford a weather sealed lens to go with it?"

I have said for a long time that just as other camera makers have two versions of their lenses, one with image stabilization and one without, Pentax should do the same with weather sealing. A lot of people would spend a little extra to get that.

Yes you have a point there, but i donīt think a new design of 50-200 are more expensive to produce. So perhaps DA-L 50-200 are already updated or DA50-200WR can be a little more expensive as it already are more expensive because of WR.
Perhaps WR lenses donīt have the same class of WR as the star lenses.

They won't seal the FA50 because of the DA*55.

The FA35 and FA50 aren't getting anything but discontinued IMO, the FA35 already is, the FA50 won't be too far behind it.

I am thinking that this is the precurser to a couple more bodies coming out this year. I think it is clear that the WR 18-55mm and 50-200mm were not intended for the K-7, the Hoya CEO said so himself, teh K-7 was intended to be built to the detailed specs of the DA LTD's and was not to be considered the replacement for the K20D. And while the new WR Kit lenses may be opticaly great, I can't see someone dropping serious coin on a top knotch body and then dropping those lenses on it.

So with some WR kit lenses, it only makes sense that they introduse a WR kit camera, a new K2000 that is WR as well would be the logical solution IMO, although the K200 is WR as well... so that may fill the gap, maybe one os those will bite the dust in the future. The K20D replacement will be designed for the DA* lenses. I think that Pentax is wising up and making a lens line for every camera body that it makes.

Sounds like a good call, and an interesting strategy — none of the other camera manufacturers work that way.

DA50-200 has a bit worse resolution than DA55-300, but better colour and bokeh.
IMO.
If Pentax improve resolution of 50-200, it will be very good at K-7.

I think the 18-55 WR and 50-200 WR would be perfectly suited to the K7 because of their size. The 16-50 DA* is already too big on the K20D, so would swamp the K7. I regularly use the 50-200 on the K20D, so think a WR version would be a perfect match to the K7.

Agreed. I just hope Pentax doesn't overprice these new WR lenses, since they still are kit lenses.

Olympus with their relatively fast 14-54mm managed to sell for ~$400 (the first one, not the updated one), so I'm hoping Pentax can also sell theirs at a price lower, since the kit lenses are nowhere near being fast.

Appearently you're missing your glasses or a couple years of early schooling. It's 52mm.... The new 50-200mm is 49mm and it looks totally different than the current 50-200mm.
