Expected K-7 Retail Price: (US)$1,400

Latest Canadian dealer info as reported by "tigrebleu":-

And, my estimation as on April 23 was calculated to be exactly the same!:-

Not bad, but still way out of my price range ($0).

Not too High, IMO.

Its fine to me for such a semi-pro spec camera. The only thing left is if it will really perform! Will it??

I think it will. The new sensor will kick a**. That's my prediction.

The rumors floating around had it lower. That's too much for these hard economic times. A lot of K20d users who would otherwise upgrade will wait, or skip it entirely. Those of you non-penurious types who are so flush with cash are lucky.

I wouldn't be surprised if they price it like that initially and then it drops like the K10D and K20D did.

Orrrrr, maybe Pentax has learned their lesson this time around. We'll see soon!

That could be about right. Just above the 50D, just below the D300.

I think a lot will depend on how long before Pentax decides to produce a replacement for it. If they plan for it to have more longevity than the K10 or K20, the price may be more reasonable to encourage steady sales. If it's going to have the same lifecycle, they'll probably price it high because most people who buy it straight away will buy it anyway.
Then the price will drop to catch the rest of us.

I'm probably going to buy it sooner rather than later if it comes even close to affordable for me. I figure if I were to rent it, it'd probably be $250 a month or more, and there's no way the price will drop that fast.

Sssh, don't tell my wife.

EDIT: or Hoya, for that matter.

Well, this is nearly the same amount I paid for my istD a few years back, so this seems fair. It'll be on my shopping list one year from now when they announce the K-7II. I like being behind the curve.

Unless they plan on having huge stocks built up before the release date I bet demand will be much higher than supply initially and I'm sure they will price it accordingly. I'm in the market for a new body and it might just be worth $1400 to me. If it's priced around $1300 or less I will preorder one immediately.

Well, if that's $1400 MSRP you can bet they'll be selling it at $1200 within a month or two, if not right away. And down to <=$1k within 6 months.

At CAD 1600 - 1700 the K-7 is twice the price of a K20D body. I doubt very much if it will be twice the camera. The K20D just became semi-pro enough for this user.
