The 11-16mm, if they made that lens would be VERY high on my list !

If they make it, it would probably be f4, but I've been wrong before :-)

Pentax has many lenses to release before the 11-16 f/2.8, and note that Pentax are working on making the consumer DA serie to WR - this takes up time and resources. So see it as a halt on new optical designs and lenses, because Pentax needs to make new WR versions of existing lenses. When this has happened, Pentax will introduce new lenses again. So no new lenses for this year, "only" WR-versions of existing lenses.

Oh, and the possibility of a 80-400 is highly unlikely, at least from Pentax.

Why should it be F4 ?
Tokina has already the 11-16 F2.8 in production for other brands.
It's just rebranding it, just like they did with the other Tokina...ugh Pentax lenses

A Pentax brand of the Tokina 80-400? I would be incredibly happy.

Ah yes of course...Pentax is a 'small' brand of course...
They have the biggest optical company, named Hoya, and one of the biggest Electronic companies, named Samsung, behind them...
I don't see them any more as a real small company.

Adding WR seals to the existing designs should soak up all the resources.

The tokina situation is annoying, seems cause they cooperate that tokina doesnt release lenses for pentax, which then means that the lenses pentax doesnt rebrand wont be available

Tokina did it with the Tokina 12-24 F4, they did rebrand it to a Pentax version.
Also the DA* 16-50, DA* 50-135, DA 10-17 and the DFA 100, are all in co-operation with Tokina.

Hm.

Just further background information: Both the tokina 11-16/2.8 and 80-400/4-5.6 (new version - Pro D) have been released for other mounts previously.

At Adorama, for Nikon mount, they cost USD 549 and 599 respectively. The non Pro D 80-400 is available for Pentax mount, but the new version is apparently noticeably better.

I'm sure we would pay USD 750 and 900 for them with the DA* niceties.

Do eet!

AFAIK A* 16-50, DA* 50-135, DA 10-17 at least are Pentax designs (blue print patented).
