A very exciting time for us Pentaxians.
that would be my plan for now... wait and spend my money on lenses for now... but if the price of the k7 gets lower and if i get a good offer for my k20d... well... hello kitty!

Posted this in the official news section and will mirror here... I read the preview on DPR and I like what I see! I look forward to a deeper review vs. a preview. I was pining for the K20D. Assuming all the new & unique features added to the K20D made it to the K-7, it's a safe bet the camera's a winner and I'll have to get myself one.

PENTAX K-7 DSLR BODY
That's a good price. Waiting to see if Don's (Western Canada chain) and Henry's get into a price war...then Possibly London Drugs will also join the fray. But in many instances the best price on camera equipment is often times Black's Photo.

Well, I'd hold my horses on declaring what's not in the firmware: it seems Dpreview and others have only had access to very early pre-production firmware: conspicuously, no one's mentioned actually making an image with what's been out and about yet, that I've seen.
You missed my thread. Granted images are really too small for anything.

Did anybody notice item 15 in the custom functions menu? It says superimpose AF Area and the description says Show AF points in VF. This hints at overlay screen, doesn't it?

Fantastic camera...

For once, I'm not bitching! Beautiful job - magnificent machine; great camera, tilt-shift functions, movie mode, beautiful build quality, cheap (the *ist D was CONSIDERABLY more), all that AND teeny, too. Love the new lenses...I'll have to sell mine now...

No info about OLED display in VF
Guess it was just a rumour, or something that they're working on that they've decided NOT to introduce yet.

I'm in, soon as they're out and are proven bug-free. I HOPE the AF in low-light is vastly improved....

Nice one, Pentax!

Cheers,
Cameron

What is the British pound worth vs American dollar. I may be mistaken but British prices always seem high, not just for cameras but other goods such as new cars. Is my perception correct or ?

Not saying it is, but could be "heads-up" technology instead.

No. This is in the K10D too, and presumably everything since — except the K-m/K2000. It's the red dots that show where the AF points are. It is a heads-up overlay, but not a very sophisticated.

£1 = $1.56

I was expecting the K-7 to weigh in at £900 here, but clearly not.

As a small island, we always get shafted with prices here!

I'll be saving up...don't know how, but I will. I already have an IR Ist-D-S a K10D and a K20D ehich I will not be parting with in order to purchase this camera. I have a problem that keeps me from embracing the out with the old in with the new policy. I love and use all of my cameras for different purposes and often use them to teach others photography, so the more cameras I have the more people I can reach and inspire. Soon i can let 2 people that do not have cameras accompany me on shoots and help them learn, I guess I could now, but the IR camera takes some getting used to.

I also have a meriad of film bodies that I won't part with.

I'll see what the early adopters have to say and wait for a price drop, but I can't help but painfully cry out how badly i want this camera.

I do not think it will retail at 1200. The K20D was meant to retail at 950, but started at 800 I think. I got mine day of release for 750. I think a more realistic price would be 1000.

I do doubt £1300 myself.

Whatever it starts out at, I am sure it will fall quickly like previous models. Though all of the hype may delay the price drops slightly more than previous models. I will be watching and waiting. I just got laid off and could not be more irritated by that than right now. I still have about 1100 in the bank and a few debts to collect on, but I can't afford to be broke right now.....or can i?
