There are a lot of K200D users, how many will toss their perfectly good non-WR 18-55, 50-200 lenses for these new WR models? The guts of the K-m should have been put in the K200D body. This would have also saved Pentax time designing and spending money on the new K-m body. This is a step sideways and 45 degree turn backwards.
A simplified and less expensive version of the K-7 will come later this year, replacing the K200D. For this the WR 18-55 and 50-200 are perfect.

K-m shooters has the DA-L non WR-lenses. Fine for them.

These are pretty decent kit level lenses and the weather resistance is a welcome addition. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the better glass sealed up too, maybe even from third party manufacturers.

I hope they improved the DA50-200. Maybe I got a bad copy, but mine is definitely lacking in sharpness even stopped down. My DA18-55 II on the other hand is excellent.
Indeed, from what I've seen the Mk II is a lot better than the Mk I. But the 50-200 is no great performer. Should have been the 55-300 they weather-sealed. It's not the best lens ever but is an amazing zoom for the price and a great compromise between expense and performance.

Has anyone else noticed this makes four versions of the kit lens? That's a bit crazy.

Has the K200D officially been discontinued? It is still on the web-site...

I'm pretty unlikely to spend two hundred or more on a kit lens, myself, but it really looks like these'll make a lot of people happy. And maybe there'll be a used 50-200 out there for me: I use tele-zooms rarely enough that it could be worthwhile to grab one.

K-m shooters has the DA-L non WR-lenses. Fine for them.
Just for and example; The K-m is $599 Cdn with the kit 18-55 DA-L lens. The K200D body only is $599.00 Cdn. For estimate sake lets say the K-7 with 18-55 WR is $1600 Cdn. Dimes to dollars the 'replacement' of the K200D will be a $1000ish body and compete with the D90, T1i, E-620. Therefore it won't be the deal it use to be. This is the point I'm making. It's too bad as Pentax could have used that as a Very useful marketing tool against the half-baked LV that Canon (XSi) has.

If I was buying Pentax right now, I'd find a new K200D and use my existing lenses until the WR's arrived.

Personal prediction: K200D+18-55WR will be a very popular combination.
My opinion too. It is just the perfect combo for a starter.

The list price of the K7 at $1299 USD is going to make things interesting for the K20d. It seems that it would make more since to "retire" the K20d from the line up and update the K200d a bit from some of the improvements to the K-m.

An update to the K200D is supposedly the next thing coming... at the turn of the year.

If I can't afford the K-7 then I'm definitely getting the K200D or the K10D with these lenses!

More if you count the white and hunter green versions.

He he - yeah! So, six versions, two cosmetic only. That must be some sort of a record.

Isn't Sigma on its way to make an affordable line of somewhat Weather Resistant lenses?.. as I heard their new Dslr will have some sort of sealing and resistance..
that's my two pennies and thought.. so maybe we'll get "Cheapish" Sigma lenses sealed up and ready for some Pentax hammering..

I didn't know it has been discontinued. That's either of these 2 options:

1) Stupid, a relatively cheap WR-kit would sell well.
2) An indication a new entry-level WR body is upcoming. Perhaps a WR K-M.
Well, K20D prices are already ridiculously low, so I'm thinking Pentax will keep the K20D in tow until the next K200D-level camera will come out.
