To what someone was saying about Kodak, they manufacture tons of sensors for various brands.

Here are MY predictions for the next 12 months.

1. 2 of the smaller camera companies will release some very interesting bodies and lenses.

2. The large companies i.e. CaNikon will attempt maintain their status quo.

3. There will be some major exciting releases in the next 12 months.

4. There will be some released flops in the next 12 months as well.

5. "Film" will struggle on, especially, 35mm, MF and LF.

Disclaimer: If I end up wrong on any of these, I was not cryptic enough in my predictions.

In just 5 more months, we'll know whether you're psychic or psycho.

Actually, I can already claim all items 1-5 on my list so apparently I'm psychic.

These 'predictions' are a bit easy, don't you think? Of course all of the above will happen. That's what has happened every year so far in the camera business.

It's obviously Leica.
$1000 for a P&S camera... $23,000 for the S2 camera...
I think Leica will survive with those prices...

It was a joke hence and the Disclaimer was to make it obvious. The entire thread was somewhat humorous sarcasm. Go look at the the OP's original post and link and some of the responses. The linked article was about as vague as my spoof predictions.

This guy wrote the article following the same reason that beautifulpeople.com closed the accounts of several thousands people. They all desire Attention. I have never heard of that site before this new year, when they did that, but now it is in news, blogs etc. This guy threw something on the table as an idea and looks around to see what comes out of it. Looks as if he is getting popular, by the number of posts just here.

I don't think the comment warranted a Sarcmark .. any fool could see it for what it was.

Or maybe not

What a pointless "article".
Pentax is slipping away, I know, I have been a loyal supporter of the manufacturer for more than 50 years and still trying to use their obsolete equipment, why I stay loyal is a mystery, perhaps it is that I have so much of it, starting again would be such sweet sorrow, Austin Allegro

In my local market in a city with about 700,000 my observations re: camera brands are as follows.
  1. Canon- I see a lot of Canon DSLR's everywhere in the city.
  2. Nikon- I see fewer Nikons...they are second, but significantly behind Canon DSLR's in numbers.
  3. Pentax is number three. They in turn, are significantly behind Nikon, but obviously # 3, out here .
  4. Olympus-they seem to be tied for near last with Sony. Hardly see any.
  5. Sony- very rarely see a Sony...tied with Olympus in sightings.
  6. Panasonic DSLR- so far haven't seen one in public.
  7. Leica- I have an old film Leica, but so far have never seen either an M8 or M9 in public. Beautiful camera, but the price...ouch.
  8. Olympus Pen- just have seen in a few camera stores.
