Pentax Live View AF at work

YouTube - PENTAX K-7 Live View Phase Difference Detection AF

YouTube - PENTAX K-7 Live View Contrast AF

Contrast AF not the fastest, even if it is possible during recording, won't look too smooth...

Two other videos by the user:

Nice clips, strange how its acting in CAF, it slowly progresses until it finds focus, then goes all they way back and then all the way to focus again, seems like something that could have been skipped for faster performance?

Uhm, what should be there to focus on? As far as I have seen there is a white wall in the focus area and just on top of it maybe a little fraction of the picture label on the wall...
Did I miss something and should focussing a white wall go better?

Please note that all samples out for testing are still pre-production models with beta firmware. The camera isn't ready yet.

There is no contrast in the focus window for it to detect!
No wonder it hunts.

Edit: Now I see what the poster was doing. Between 0:08 and 0:10, he/she turned the focus ring manually to put it out of focus, and then let the AF work again. And considering there is no contrast in the focus window, it is not doing too bad.

There are two trials and each time, it hunts once after nearly getting to focus. If the rectangle shows the correct region (should for LV), then there is enough contrast -- because the little signs are within this region.

In contrast AF video the focusing point is in a very hard place. Not as easy like in the phase AF.
Phase detection sure is much faster than in k20d. Very usable I think.
