K-7 cheaper at brick and mortar stores?

I had expected to place an order through Henry's or Prodigital but Lens and Shutter street price is 1499 with the same expected delivery date. Less than the others and no shipping. Is the buzz on the internet boosting the price past what the regular stores don't see?

Interesting. Henry's initially had the K-7 priced at $1499.99 but quickly rose it to $1599.99 a few days after the official release. I guess if you put the pre-order in with Lens & Shutter (with maybe a deposit) they would guarantee the price for you? Also, you wouldn't happen to know if the free shipping would apply for shipments to Toronto would you?

I paid a $300 deposit so it's locked in at $1499. They have a toll free phone # so you can always ask about the shipping.....

I think thecamerastore.com had it for $1499 last time I checked and may only charge one tax for customers outside of Alberta. Will be interesting to see what Prodigital lists it at eventually. Most of their lens prices have adjusted back down quite a bit, close to pre-Pentax Canada hikes a few months back.

For what it's worth, the "Zone Image" chain lists the K-7 at 1499.99$ in their latest flyer (prices valid until june 14th). Most stores are in Québec, but there is one in Hawkesbury (Ontario) and one in Bathurst (New Brunswick).

Actually, the price jumped within 24 hours. I pre-ordered mine before I left for work on May/20 from Henry's ...checked there the next morning and it had gone up to $1599.99. But, I have my conformation at the $1499.99 price.

The store where I work is taking pre orders for the camera at $1299.99 street price. I just hope I can get enough to cover all the preorders.

The way the Canadian dollar is almost spanking the US greenback again....might end up being cheaper to buy it from the US and pay duty! I think L&S at $1499.00 is the cheapest so far in Canada. To be honest, it's been a while since they (L&S) were at a price point below other. I bought my ME Super from them in 81 and it was the cheapest place to go but I think they had been pricey the past decade....

Amazon.ca is very far behind amazon.com (US version), and many items that are electronic, the American Amazon will not ship to Canada.

I look at it as just another example of American retail being further ahead than Canadian retail.

L&S have the FA 35 f2 for low low price of 799.99 locally. There is something seriously wrong with that.

Dang it! I guess I should've put in my pre-order right away. I wonder if they'd be willing to honour the $1499.99 price for pre-orders put in now (doubt it).

Tx for the info RBellavance! Nice to see the K-7 getting some primetime flyer time. Kind of disappointed (and not that surprised) that Henry's, Vistek, Aden and DC show no Pentax lovin' on their site or flyers.

My pleasure They usually feature Pentax somewhere in their flyers.

What really surprised me in this case is that I went to my local store the day after the K-7 announcement, and that flyer with the K-7 was already printed (about a week before distribution). I saw the 1499$ price, thought about the mostly across-the-board 100$ increase elsewhere, and ordered my K-7 on the spot
