I say that Pentax has very good position with K-7 at market now.
D300s can't change the situation.
Olympus had already announced ALL they could.
E-30, E-620, E-450.
Sony has no any new cameras (A230/330/380 are restyling models).
Canon 50D was announced only 9 months ago.
My guess is that we will see a totally new D400 by years end, not facelifted D300s.

The Olympus E-3 is well due for an upgrade, and going by the E-620, it seems they've finally got 4/3rds sussed. E-30 is not top of the line, Olympus will have a mag-al sealed body out soon.

Sony is too serious about being a major player in the dSLR market not to release a new A700 with video soon.

The 50D was released less than a year after the 40D, and like Sony, Canon needs a player in this market segment with video.

I think it would be unrealistic to expect that all 5 major manufacturers won't have a video capable semi-pro model out in the next 12 months, if not by the end of the year. That said, I still think Pentax is on to a winner with the K-7 and has finally found itself ahead of the game

Do you know prodigital2000? http://thumbs2.ebaystatic.com/pict/120429309688_1.jpg

Try offering a 10% off price. I think they'll accept it.

But watch the exchange rates because I lost 10% on my 12-24 purchase just because of the strong cad these two months.
Yes, I know about them, but thanks anyway. My friend wanted to go into a store and buy one, not seek out a lower price via eBay. Anyway, it looks like Prodigital2000 is going grey market these days, as they're only offering the 1-year international warranty with their products. Or am I wrong about that?

If I was buying from scratch tomorrow, I would get the D300. For what I want I understand it's still better than the K-7.

Hmm... Provocative, yet vague. Please tell us more about your specific needs and what you understand.

Tracking AF.
70-200/f2.8 Nikon and 1.4x TC (Pentax doesn't even have either).
