Dunno how credible this info is, but I got an e-mail from my camera salesman, where he said that he just got an text message from pentax importer to Finland, that new date from the factories should be 2.11 !!!

I'm still hoping that there's a mistake somewhere in information chain, or otherwise that'll be a devastating delay for Finland

Just wanted to add this little thing... and prove me wrong please!

Yeah Nov 2 2009, sorry, I tend to forget that date markings differ so much around the world

but yeah, that's gotta be a mistake! I still wanted to share what was said to my dealer.

Anyway THERE MUST be some confusion somewhere, testers have got the 1.00 firmvare already !

So I'm optimistic that it's the July release here in Finland too.

I pre-orderd mine from Henry's ...they haven't posted a delivery date but I hope July/1 ...I can't wait to try it out. I skipped the K20 upgrade in anticipation of the next model and couldn't be happier with the specs of the K-7.

Maybe you should change your plans and plan on vacationing in the Philippines and you can pick one up at the factory.

I will be in Tokyo from 7/4-11, and then to Shanghai until the 18th. I wonder where I ought to buy my K-7. Should I wait 'til I come home to the states???

I just got off the phone with my local dealer with whom I have the K-7 preordered. He informed me that they "have a scheduled shipment from Pentax next week, not sure if the K-7 will be on it but definitely have a Pentax shipment coming".

Normally, but new products are many times shipped air to fill the channel faster.

I have done a LOT of import export. Generally speaking, most consumer electronics are shipped via air, especially small items like cameras. Container ships are notoriously damp and wet. Damp and wet + electronics = customer service and logistical nightmares. Especially for a high profile product like the K-7, I'd be very surprised to see it shipped by sea.
