Pentax getting good coverage in magazines

Just got my new copy of Pop Photo and the K7 was on the cover with the wording "Pentax fights back!" They did a short article on it with all of the preproduction specs and raved about it. They also stated that they will put it through the full test when they get one off the shelf.

Also, my new American Photo named the K7 as camera of the year for advanced DSLRs. It tied with the D90.

At least we're seeing some talk about the K7 and Pentax!!

This shows why Pentax should not waste money on TV ads for the K-7. With all the free PR anyone looking for a mid range DSLR already knows about the K-7 or will know by the time it comes out next month.

I am glad that Pentax put their funds on research and development. Goodwill should win the day, especially at the price point of the K7.

True, but a little advertising doesn't hurt for the newbie feel that that are buying into a great brand. That's what drives people. The ads. Why do you think so many people buy that hunk of junk they call the Rebel? Because it's a Canon and their name is everywhere. Makes them feel like they are buying into a pro brand. Sorry for them.

Some quotes from the Popular Photography article:

"Things had been quiet on the upper end of the Pentax DSLR front (despite rumblings of a digital 645 medium-format model). Well, the silence has been broken. No, make that shattered, with the new K-7 ($1300, body only), a video-shooting hard-body that packs in-camera high dynamic range imaging, live view, image stablization, and a level indicator that's right out of high-end Nikons."

"A new control layout, a gasketed body with 77 seals, a pop-up flash that rises higher than ever, and an AF-assist light to speed up the process in low light are just some of the reasons this promises to be a breakout DSLR for Pentax."

"Consider this if.... you're looking for a super deal, with pro-level build and truly cutting-edge technology."

They advertise a lot in magazines in Japan.
Not sure who would make the decision to advertise or not advertise, as the case may be, in magazines in Europe, America and so on.

Magazines here have had a lot of back cover and inside front/back cover full page ads.

I know this is the home of the brand, but international advertising seems to be not of prority.

Still, without advertising for the k-7, it may sell itself with well-received reviews.
