EOS 60D and Nikon D400

Camera Labs :: View topic - 60D (to be known as the 7D) Rumours

Razavan: Pentax is already offering strong competition in the midrange area, for the 1st time ,but this Canon will could take no.1 position. Maybe, maybe not. The Nikon D400 & Sony A800 are coming this year? Because this could mean serious competition.

The specs don't look very realistic to me though, so there may be hope!!!

Also found this.... I suddenly feel like the K-7 went from its huge feature leading semi-pro camera to a mid-range....

No any A800 or D400. 50D is 9 months old.

Just added the D400!
It would be awesome if any moderator could change the title to "EOS 60D and Nikon D400"

At least the good thing of the D400+60D is that the price of the K-7 will go down faster!

As I understand the rumors for the 60D (aka 7D), it is to replace the 40D, not the 50D. People are expecting it to be released in the fall. I bet it does not have the same level of weather sealing as the K-7, and it will not have sensor based SR. I doubt Canon is going to make a smaller bodied camera like the K-7. Pentax will still have unique features, unique lenses, and a better price.

The D400 sounds like a killer package. The rumored spec sheet is just insane. But then it is expected to be more than $2000.00 on release. It will be the top APS-C camera on the market. And, just like Canon, the Nikon will not have the price point, or some of the features the Pentax has.

The 60d doesnt look very interesting. Seems nikon is getting dragged along by the mp raise by petnax and canon up to 14-15mp. imo too bad (more noise, less dr. noise means more nr which kills resolution).

Im more interested in seeing when either full frame or larger than aps-c will start to come down to the 60d level. Seems lucky for pentax that wont happen in this generation. first time I read 60d rumors it said it would have aps-h sensor, maybe from 1D III but I guess that wont happen yet.

Soon we will see an automatic shutter that takes the images when they are perfect...then we don't need photographers, and the photography is dead!

Happy now?

(my gosh, is it only me or do people really need this improvements???)

Nikon D400 | Nikon Rumors
The sensor would have to be redesigned. possible from Canon, but I think it will get released Christmas, or not before November. Way too soon after the 50D.
And the D400 rumors were from December. And not the latest. The latest Nikon rumor is that it will be the D300s which will include the slightly redesigned sensor in the D5000 and have movie mode as well as dual slot. And the A800 rumors I have seen look ridiculous, A camera way above the A900 at a lower price point...... My spidy senses are sensing BS.

I don't think there is too much to worry from Canon/Nikon right now. I think the big thing they will add to those cameras is video. Their package still will be a large camera in comparison to the K-7 and I think the small size of the K-7 in comparison will bring buyers in. I mean really, everything else being equal, smaller cameras tend to sell better.

The Lord of Darkness "7D" aps-h is not the rumoured 60D aps-c

A EOS 7D arriving soon? (a rumor so far..., looks real): Canon EOS-1D / 1Ds / 5D Forum: Digital Photography Review

http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/cameras/Canon_60D.html

Gotta remember, Canon offers dslrs in three format sizes:

Full frame pro,

Full Frame consumer

APS-H their 1.3x crop pro body

APS-C pro-consumer like 50D

APS-C budget, the rebels people like to call "the toy camera"

No need for the sad face.

It's inevitable. Technology marches on. It's just technology.

In the end it's the photos that matter

Pentax got the two buzzwords in the k7, live view and video so in that regard they are up to date with the lates generation cams. Altho if canon and nikon refreshes their competing cams now afterwards then their specs will be a bit better on most accounts like having 1080p video instead of 720p and as usual having more fps.

I think the big problem for pentax will be like I said if canon and nikon start to move full frame down to that level of camera.

I disagree. it could possibly push pentax to develop a camera with a FF sensor.

C&N must do whatever it takes - 60D/70D/7D/D300s/D400/FF/whatever, so that we will see K-7 prices dropping fast !
