Ah, the upward price movements have begun on K20D. I looked yesterday and it was $659 no rebate. Now $799 today & then $100 rebate. Once the rebate is dropped its up $150 or 17%. Reminds me of the way K10D went up, up, up back to just under issue price to clear existing inventory. K10D was only available on pentaxstore website sales. So Lenses are up & K20D is up since K-7 announced:

Pentax | K20D SLR Digital Camera (Camera Body) | 19381 | B&H

Might be a good time to write prices down on gear your considering so you can watch your dollar bills devalued right before your eyes? Or jump in and buy before prices head further north.

are there websites where you can subscribe to price tracking (may be B&H is feeding prices through RSS or something like this ?)

At $799 it's a good price, $699 is a steal. I could only wish we could get low prices + rebates like that here. That said, up the price and offer rebates is a little boggling although an understandable marketing gimmick to clear stock and edge out the last bit of profit on the slight increase while they can.

i just used bing.com and ebay to buy a k20d body. buy.com ebay store is selling them for $632 +free shipping.

bing.com gave me an 8% discount which dropped the price of the camera to about $582. if my paypal coupon had worked, i would have received a rebate total of 18%. it's still a pretty good deal at what i got it for.

if you guys are interested, there was only 3 left from the seller.

2500 negatives in past year, WOW

2,500 negs in 12 months,

thats alot of unhappy buyers !!!

15% restock fee,

doesn't say they are authorized pentax dealers so no 3 year warranty either.

I'd pass.

I passed when K20D was $659 at B&H with free delivery, no restock fee, usa dealer valid for 3 year warranty with OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE. Heck even at $699 now its a better deal than this ebay seller's track record.

Your money your choice. I don't get screwed often on ebay, but its cause I'm VERY cautious. Good Luck with your purchase. I wouldn't buy anything from them. Zero.

ive used them before with other expensive equipment and never had an issue.

i own a used k100D that had over 8000+ actuations that i bought off an average joe on ebay. i've added about 1000+ more to it and still have not encountered any problems.

2,500 neg. vs 669,000 pos. that comes out to approx. 2.7% unhappy customers. im not trying to defend these guys. i was just posting up a good deal, imo.

unless the camera itself has a bad track record, only then would i worry about a 3yr warranty.

Honestly warranties are a suckers game anyway.

They wouldn't offer them if they weren't sure that they weren't going to lose money on the deal. I used to work for a car dealership- warranties and extended service plans are the biggest scam on the planet.

Unless you're going to be doing some pretty hard-core smash and bash photography, you shouldn't need a warranty. If your product fails, it fails. The law of averages (and statistics) could prove that you'd be better off replacing the couple of products that fail (during your entire life span), than paying for a full warranty on everything you get.

But if it were only like $50 more for the full 3 year warranty... I think I'd go with that dealer instead hahah!

3 year warranty is from Pentax

If you buy a K20D from an authorized Pentax dealer

you get:

3 year warranty

Thats the current Pentax USA special:

K20D Digital SLR - Official PENTAX Imaging Web Site

The Pentax Factory warranty is included for (((FREE))),

well,

that is,

if you buy K20D from Authorized Pentax Dealer

Damn. I'm not eligible for the rebate. Was watching the price go down to $659 and still wasn't sure it was the time to buy it...

Just in case anyone is interested, the GX-20 is selling with kit lens for $799: Samsung | GX-20 SLR Digital Camera with 18-55mm | ER-GX20ZBBA/US
