Popular Photography puts K-7 on the cover

They barely give 3/4's of a page to it in their July issue, but it is on the cover. They merely point out it's features and list "as soon as we get a production unit, we'll run it through the gauntlet".

Popular photography is usually favorable in some way about everything they review. They are not like the UK mags, who are harsh graders and pick apart everything. I'm sure their full review will be favorable from the sounds of this small article.

I was a little bummed to see it on the cover and only get less than a page of story. Then again, it is Popular Photography.

One interesting note is the ad on the opposite page for the 15.1MP, Full HD 1080p movie Canon Rebel T1i.

"Full 1080p"... smells like deceptive advertizing to me...

How so? Because it's only 20fps not 24fps?

• 1920 x 1080 (1080P, 16:9) @ 20 fps
• 1280 x 720 (720P, 16:9) @ 30 fps
• 640 x 480 (4:3) @ 30 fps

Yes.

I'm not up on HD standards but I'd be surprised if 1080p at 20 fps was a recognised quality level for HD video.

Exactly. I can shoot at a higher frame rate with my K20D (albeit with a limited clip length and a lot of monkeying around with stop-motion software).

the T1i is visually everywhere. BillBoards, TV ads, newspaper, almost everywhere. the only place that I didn't see it is while I'm in the men's room.

Canon is really marketing their T1i really huge and I don't know if it's working. should Pentax do the same?

Gave it less than a full page cause they will go into more depth next issue or w/e they test it.

All exposure is good exposure. Finally, magazine are starting to recognize that Pentax IS a real player in the marketplace.

Plus, it's on the cover.
You wouldn't usually get cover if your just a so-so.
Canon got a full page "coverage" (read as ad) 'coz they paid for it..Pentax didn't.
Cover means big news..that is basically front page or "headlines" as they call it in newspapers!

If the magazines didn't no one would ever know a damn thing because Pentax's marketing is about as elusive as Big Foot!!

But maybe they only care about if it's a real advertiser
