Pentax K7 Killer?

So I just read today specs for the Samsung GX30. It's comparable to the K7, but it trumps it in the ways below.

Samsung GX30 specifications: built-in GPS, double SD slots, AMOLED display | Photo Rumors

- faster at 6fps
- built in GPS and Wi-Fi
- 3.0 AMOLED tilt and swivel screen
- double SD slots

It's exciting, but now it makes the decision for the K7 all the more difficult! I had a K10, bought a K20 a week ago, but returned it with the intention of getting a K7 after a ton of research.

But now the GX30. Ah! The stress again!

Well, if there's something to that, it would appear they bulked up the K-7 to add some extra whizbangs.

The page you linked to lists a max sync speed of 1/250th as well. That's cool.

K-7 vs. GX30

Pentax Trumps Samsung in the following ways;

PEF
No mention of in-camera processing functions in Samsung (admittedly sketchy preview info.)
A history of Samsung not updating firmware
Bigger: 138100x72mm vs. 131 x 97 x 73 mm
Heavier: 728gr (no battery) vs. No battery: 670 g

Ship date? Pricing?

What did I miss? For me, size is the killer... I'm not cancelling my K-7 order.

Excellent to see some K-mount competition.

I think it's good if there's more choices, rather than just mostly a cosmeticly-different version of the same thing. Could be a good move.

If that is true, they are trying to differentiate their offer more than what was in the past... but that is a very bad move towards pentax. With those specification why one should get a Pentax instead of a Samsung (given equal price and equal availability)?

Note also:

-11 AF sensors (10 simple-cross AF sensors and center double-cross AF sensor)
-Flash Sync 1/250 (1/200 OIS on)

Aye. That was one of the "Why bother, Pentax, Samsung" things for me. What's the difference between the K20D and the GX20, meh, I don't know.

It does look good, but somehow, I just can't see my self using a Samsung. Extra slots, faster sync, faster FPS looks good though.

Actually no, I might be it if it doesn't look ridiculous, like that NX.

Sounds nice, but it will probably be more expensive.
Choice is good.
Misleading thread title.

One you missed, if accurate:

Pentaprism OVF 100% coverage and 0.95X magnification.

I wouldn't get too excited about this until the camera is finally released, after all, the specs are on a website called "Photo Rumors".

IF the spec list is accurate, well, the K-7 will be purchased by the people who really want that small size (and probably a lower price), while the GX-30 might be the choice purchase of those who want to both pay the extra money and have a larger body.

The dual card slots and faster flash sync sound really nice to me. In every other way, the K-7 will no doubt be more than sufficient to my needs.

that is not a good move by Samsung if that rumor is true. just not unique enough and convince people to choose Samsung over Pentax. Samsung should make an affordable FF dslr if they want to compete against Pentax and other dSLRs.

The rumors about the k7 where not too far off the reality

The GPS and the amoled are very nice though... I personally do not care about the 0.8fps more than the k7 and about the wifi.

I would be curious to know what does "double cross sensor" actually means....

What exactly made you take back the K20 and decide to get the K7? I am still tossing up between the two and would be interested to know.

The size is like GX20...

GX30:
138100x72mm

GX20
142x101x72 mm

K7
131x97x73 mm

"I would be curious to know what does "double cross sensor" actually means.... "

I am not sure, but I think the Sony Alpha 700 has a double cross central AF sensor (f/2.8)...
