K-7 test video start flying out from Japanese users

The high iso images look good!

You name it good? I name it amazing. If this is actual ISO performance, then WOW!

Look at 6400! Its better then ISO 800 on my K10D, and ISO 3200 is clean, and detail is still there.

I am not surprised of the excellent performance on high iso. Think a moment. Part of the noise is caused by overheating of the sensor.
Now, cause of the video, the sensor has been optimized so as not to overheat even when the shutter is open continuously. This could also reflect beneficially on the images at high ISO with a sensor designed to less heating and so..less noisy.
It's my simple conjecture.

However i will receive the K-7 this week and i will test it personally

What you say would certainly help.

I heard an unsubstantiated rumour that they also managed to redesign the sensor mounting on the SR mechanism and heat conduction to the chassis to improve long-exposure heat dissipation. Another possible reason to go for the metal chassis? Who knows.

The image quality at high ISO looks VERY, VERY good to me. ISO's of 3200-6400 look very usable :-)

This should be a great available light concert camera :-)

The fact that they have improved sensor cooling *and* have finally allowed turning off automatic dark frame subtraction on long exposures means that the K-7 can now enter the ranks of astrophotography. Seeing the wonderful high ISO performance also bumps its utility in this regard.

I'd say ISO1600 on K-7 looks like ISO800 on K10D. It's nice and will be a nice upgrade for me. And these are with NR turned off if I read the site correctly (I don't speak/read Japanese)?

Sooo, when will the first price drop come? After Nikon and Canon release their new models?

I don't speak or write Japanese. Can you see what the K-7 settings were for the different tests, for example what was noise reduction settings? I'm unable to see exif with this computer. can you post the exif if they exist?

IMO K-7 6400 Iso looks K10 1600 Iso but maybe that's just me.

Well, we're only one stop apart. =) Did you look at 100% shots or just the normal scaled down flicker pics? I'd have to get a hold of a nice DNG sample from the K-7 to compare and process in the same way I do my shots from the K10D.

I shot these with a K10D last week (might sound like a cheesy commercial and I'm not forcing anybody to click, just wanted to post some real world shots for comparison):

Some shots are ISO800 and others are ISO1600 (EXIF is intact, just middle click on the thumbs to open in new tab and bypass the animation).

The thing I like about these K-7 high ISO shots is that the colors are reproduced nicely even at ISO6400 which was not so with the K20D and they got rid of the awful banding and purple/bluish cast at ISO6400.

My max. ISO normally is:
*istDs: 800
K10D: 400
K20D: 800
and I think, seeing the links above, the K-7 could reach my quality at 1600.

That would be great!
