Sounds like Pentax is doing their best to scare away the 5% of the market they have. Seems like everyone on here is either a Pentax user because they offered the most bang for the buck or they already own 30 years worth of glass. If they start charging more than Canikon I don't understand how that will work. True or not most people view Canikon as the premium brands.

For me it was the most bang for the buck, dont take me wrong now, I love pentax, but i dont care the brand, just what i can achieve with the piece. I most likely want to hide all brand markings on my stuff since i dont need to think about that, but this is obscure.

(Sorry for my bad english, its not my native language)

Kit prices reflect old stock?
Price is not $1129.95, when you add the lens to the shopping cart it goes to $769.99

Its actually cheaper then what I paid for it, which was $900 earlier this year. Now its below $800. I'd get it while its this low!

Ha ha... a mistake? so all of the Pentax lenses across the board changed prices at different levels... and now it was a mistake??? That is not the way computer 'point of sales' POS programs work Red!
The only mistake was that it was released before the other retailers also marked up their prices...

It's coming and it is real!

Special Price Available hehe

The "special" prices are still $100 higher than they were at the beginning of the week.

I doubt it's a mistake... to my understanding pretty much the whole world has seen increases save the US, so I imagine Pentax USA is now catching up.

Real shame to see it all at once like this. They say "just rip the bandaid off"... this one's going to hurt!

I for one am glad I got my two DA* zooms when I did. If I need quality primes I have them. They're labeled TAKUMAR!

You know, though, with the level of viciousness I've been seeing on the Net about camera brands, for all we know it could be malicous hackers generating a mirage.

Or we've been experimented upon.

I was pretty excited about the K-7 and was hoping to get one as soon as I could save up the money...now I'm pretty hesitant. I bought into Pentax mainly because similar quality Nikon gear was too expensive. I'll wait and see where this is all going, but if Hoya is deciding to send pentax into mini-Leica-land than I'll quickly turn my eye back to Nikon.
