AA rechargeable LiIon batteries (4 pieces) which would totalize ~6v (not 4.8v) to gain in more AF speed would solve the problem (with the ability to use 4 NiHM batteries also).
If not, LiIon batteries (K7 or K10/20 compatibles ones).
Others:
-WR kit lens to match the camera's WR
-same K7 sensor
-same AF system like K7 (if not newer )
-same pentamiror from K200/K100
-LV
-eventually video capability
-top LCD , like K200
-more or less, same materials for the body like K200
-eventually AF assist lamp
-~3-4 fps
-if K7 ~ D300 and K200 ~ D90 and K-m ~ D60 then an extra select dial like K7 (and D90).
-...
These would some of the reasonable features for a camera in this class (mid level - for an amateur/enthusiast photographer maybe even a beginner - P&S comming one).

where the hell are you getting 1.5V from?

4x AA rechargable LiIon batteries = 4x 3.7V = 14.8V = Dead camera

there's a reason why most Li-ion companies won't make a LiIon in the AA form factor. too many stupid people in the world.

what 3.7v (you said 4 AA x 3.7v )... are these batteries 3.7 v : Lithium Batteries - Lithium Battery Sizes AA & AAA. Energizer.com ( http://www.steves-digicams.com/2008_reviews/pentax_k200d/k200d_battery.jpg ) and not 1.5v ? Of course, it's not Lithiu-Ion (only Lithium and not rechargeable)

All I want is !

1) A camera that is the same size as the K200D
2) Better DR
3) Better high ISO performance/less noise at 1600+ ISO
4) Improved sensor (10-12mp) don't need 14+MP (I want noise free images at higher ISO's)
5 Faster AF
6) Live view and a articulating LCD
7) Uses AA batteries

Don't care much about movie mode, just want a high performance, small footprint mid range camera.

Now that D3000 ot all these new stuff packed in it, it's absolutely no question what the next K-m and K200D should have The 2000D (1000D's succesor) will have about the same features.
Anyway it seems that the D300 and now the "S" one remains the best crop sensor dSLR camera in all the aspects

No, they aren't. They can't use any of my lenses! That's a very serious design flaw, you know?

If you have manual focusing lenses (K Pentax mount) and aperture ring AF ones you can use them on any Canon camera using the proper adapter More, with "plain" K Pentax lenses you'll be able to use Av mode too without canibailizing the aperture lever (stop down metering). That is needed I think in the case of 5D because of the mirror size issue. More, D300 and higher Nikon class cameras can meter (Av +M) nicely with the majority of Nikon mount lenses.

And... why on Earth I would use a Canon?
Joking aside yes, the D300 (and D300s, I'm certain of it) is an excellent camera, and overall the best (specified) APS-C. However, it's Pentax competitor - yes, the K-7 - has it's advantages. You can't say one camera beats the other "in all the aspects", 'cause this isn't happening

So don't get the 2 mixed up.

Lithium NON-RECHARGABLE batteries, more specifically the ones using the Li-FeS2 compound, put out a nominal voltage of 1.5V per cell. These are fine for your DSLR, and in fact this is the compound inside Energiser Lithium Batteries that Pentax approves of.

Lithium ion/Lithium Ion Polymer RECHARGABLE batteries put out a nominal 3.7V per cell.

you've linked to Lithium NON-RECHARGABLE batteries. see the bit that says "PRIMARY" in your third link? that means it's not rechargable.

Lithium Ion batteries ARE NOT THE SAME AS Lithium batteries. Say it with me here, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME!!!!!!!

Mmm ? are those thw new Nikon anything but catch up ?

D3000 is a K-m with LiveView (built-in Help blabla)
D300s is a two years old (but excellent, no question) camera on which they just enabled Video 720p.

This is certinaly good for Nikon users but I wonder, what exactly does it change from a week ago?

...
But I said there : 'would solve' and not 'solves' (I know that those are not rechargeable batteries) Read carefully and don't forget that the things written in this thread are pure suppositiona/fantasy stuff until are proven to be real
