Well it is working, Will be interesting to see price.
I have been thinking of picking up a 645 on the cheep w/ a lens or 2 and than maybe getting the 645D later or renting for some weddings. Man I cannot wait to see the image quality etc.

What I find funny is that Pentax everywhere but USA promotes products like every other company... with sexy women. Pentax USA has told me on numerous times they do not want any of that linked to them and will not run any swimsuit shots because of this policy... Just ask Mark D. He was not allowed to show a pic of his wife on the beach from the front in a 2 piece. LOL
This photo or demo would not fly in the US according to everyone I have talked to, John, Ned etc etc.

Conservative policy and I like it, to some extent!

The sillyness of car manufacturers, and obviously camera makers aswell seem to know no limit when it comes to using women as prop to the product. They should have a "women not included" tag-thingy somewhere visible in combination with the exhibit of the product. It's just silly.

Although it seems a little bit out there to refuse Mark D:s images. These are obviously two different things alltoghether. Excuse me, I'm to tired to write things in a construvtive manner. So promise to not take me to seriously.

Back to buisness. The 645 D is now a working product. That's great.

On the subject of the 645D - does anyone have an idea if there is going to be a crop factor with the lenses on this nice new big sensor?

Am I right to be guessing that the DFA 645 55mm lens is going to be the 'new' standard lens with an equivalent view of 75mm in traditional 645 terms?

I've been using the 645nII for a good few years now and can't wait to find out more on prices, new lenses etc...

Last reports was that it would have a 1.3X Factor...
Hassablad just anounced a "more budget" 31mp back w/ a crop factor close to this too. Kodak suplies sensors to most med format didi companies. I think we are seeing Hassablad feel some lower price heat.
The oridginal pricing was speculated in the $7-9K mark (USD)

Have you noticed that the women have incredibly beautiful legs? Now that should be what is under discussion here and not the 645D. We know we can get the 645D...

Haha LOL. Its ture. There is always women in ads. Its like theres more focus on the model than the product.

Like Sony, omg huge bad ass when it comes to advertising. Like Casino Royale was chuck full of blatant product placement. In their recent brochures, they also used Keisha Chante to promote their T-cams! Argh.

Thankfully, Pentax doesn't engage in this kind of advertising although I would like to see their name passed around more often.

Having the latest camera from your favorite brand won't get you laid and we Pentaxians know that.
And besides that Pentax has the sexiest design so it's pretty hard to find adequately sexy girl.

HAhah hilarious!

Yea Pentax is usually very good on design and ergonomics. Many the 645D will make waves against Hassellers out there.

harumph

Evidently they don't consider women a worthy market or they'd advertise the cameras with sexy men, instead! (Right, like that's going to make me more likely to spend 8k...)

Okay, okay, yeah I know, 90%+ of "serious" cameras are purchased by men. I'm a freak of nature.

Idle speculation - I just pulled 90% out of the air, anybody have an idea of what the split is, or where one would find out? I recall something about p&s purchases being made overwhelmingly by women, I'd be interested in seeing the stats on dSLRs etc.

Your question intrigued me Julie, so I did a quick google search and didn't come up with anything new. Only piece of information I got was that DSLR's are THE growing segment of the digital camera business (doh!) and that women are increasingly making purchasing decisions regarding digital cameras, but no breakdown into P&S and DSLR's (again doh!) But I'm sure that the data is out there somewhere. BTW I can't think of ANYTHING marketed to women that uses sex. You don't get sexy dudes driving around with mini vans, you don't get sexy dudes pitching diet foods or clothing or even romance novels! Tho in the final case there are sexy dudes on the covers.

NaCl(just guessing on the last catageory will NOT own up to even looking at a romance novel)H2O

Do you not ever glance at the womens' magazines????

Sex is pitched at women alright...but using women as the sex objects.

All in all a bit of a worry.
