Been getting some hints

I am getting some hints about the October "Salon de la Photo".I think the new stuff is going to be pretty impressive. I'm not stoking the fire, but I think Pentax have some serious tricks up their sleeve..

Awesome! I have been holding off buying a K100D for for my fiancee. I hope they make a camera in between the K100D and the K10D. If they do, I will definately get her one. I can't wait!

I just heard some stuff mentioned in passing to me at my last meeting as if I already knew what they said, but in actual fact did not. They even mentioned the name which freaked me out. I acted unimpressed not to give them the impression that I hadn't already been told..which I wasn't!

It's a good thing to hear after watching the merger threads here on the forum. I will be very interested to find out what Pentax is going to release before Christmas or after the first of the year. I was really waiting for Christmas to buy a new K100D but if there is going to be something in between the K100 and the K10 (with shake reduction I'll gladly wait.
Thanks Ben.

Blasphemy just Blasphemy. Hang this guy. It is a nice offering but I never got along with the cannons I had before. Does cannon sponsor a guy with a point and shoot????

Hmm.... i have a 400d, throw them my name. It could be a way of getting some nice shiny stuff that i could then sell to get money for the next generation of pentax cameras

So that means it's not under NDA and you can mention what it is to us as well!

If they do make a camera in that price point, I hope it's more borrowing features from the K10D than just making a fancier K100D. If introducing a middle model is the strategy they take, it's likely that the next-generation K10D-equivalent will be pushed up to be priced more like the Canon 30D or Nikon D200. Which would be sad for me because that's what I'm saving for.

Herbert Keppler alluded to the fact that hints had been made a while ago of a stripped down K100, a modern day digital K1000 in effect. I wonder if we would ever see such a camera? To me this would be very desirable as a carry arround camera with the 21 and 70 pancake lenses.

If they make that, and make it not have a built-in flash, I will buy it immediately on principle. Probably lithium rechargeable cells to further decrease the weight. But what else is there to strip out? I wouldn't want an even smaller/dimmer viewfinder. A smaller LCD, I guess, although these days that's a big selling point. The top LCD could be reduced or even removed (for better or for worse).

They could go all Nikon on us and require SDM, but I don't see that happening.

Sorry, can't help the pointless speculating.
