What I want is some specs, goddamit :-D It's not just a new body, it's a new mount! I need to know mount opening size and more importanly, register distance! Because I don't give rat's arse about dem all-new Samsung lenses, I wanna know which manual lenses I can adapt to it. Specifically, Leica L/M lenses.

My best guess from that profile view shot, assuming the LCD is a 3" one, and assuming that the sensor plane will be around where the sensor plane on my K-7 is, I would say the flange focal distance might be around 22mm. Which is good, there would be enough space for an adapter for Leica M lenses :-)

Hell, it's still duck-taped together - Look at the bottom of the camera

Was Samsung showing anything else apart from a bunch of compacts?

The duct tape is covering up logos showing the sensor resolution and perhaps some other features (SR?).

Looks a bit bulkier than I thought it would be from earlier mock-ups. I guess there's really nothing in the picture for a size comparison though.

Is that in-lens shake reduction? (first of the two switches on the lens)

Good capture; may well be. Which would make it a deal breaker for me.

Samsung has Optical Stabilisation - in lenses, not SR.

Why do they have to make it (at least the prototype) look like a dSLR with the fake prism-hump and all? After all, this is supposed to be an EVIL with no prism, right? I'd assume that with fewer structural limitations they could've come up with something a bit more innovative.

I am not sure.
This may be a fully operational pre-production unit as they are said to be in field test now. I wanted to go there and take some 300mm shots from a distance for precise size comparisons but eventually, I couldn't make it ...

For some reasons Hybrid cameras like this and Micro 4/3 cameras like the Oly & Pana just don't excite me.

It's strange though given my age I am somewhat a traditionalist and much prefer the bulk of a traditional SLR as well as a real optical viewfinder sytems as opposed to electronic viewfinders. It's just not kosher as far as i'm concerned.

Me too, I cannot fall in love with the current generation of EFV.

EVFs based on 2 MPixel OLEDs and 40ms display lag may change this some day. But this day is many years ahead

The new small zoom is a 18-55mm and the telezoom is like a 50/70-200mm.

The Samsung lenses have 2 switches, AF-MF (very weird in a contrast AF lens) and OIS.

The EVF look big...

I've been hopeful that the NX series would keep the K mount but the rear caps on those lenses look a different shape. Is there any reason not to keep the K mount?

Having said that, those two lenses look very like the Pentax 18-55 & 50-200mm kit lenses, stabilisation switch apart.

But Samsung are definately behind the times with the EVIL concept. Both Pana & Oly have learned that it's better to minimise the size of this type of camera. The only thing that fails to excite me about EVIL cameras is that so far they're all micro 4/3. If the NX are APS-C then that should be better.
