Any geusses to how much the new DA 300mm F4 lens in Spetember 07 will cost?

The Nikon 300mm f4 sells for $1125 at B&H (U.S.) and the Canon 300mm f4 IS sells for $1150 (U.S.). I would expect the Pentax to sell for a bit less than the competition. I would also expect that it won't be available in September, given their recent track record with expected shipping dates.

The announced release date for the DA* primes and the 60-250mm zom was originally December, 2007, but I have a feeling we won't be seeing the lenses until next year

I will wait. I have a trip to Yellowstone in January. Hopefully it will be out by then.

i hope it can be usd700 around
it is not a popular lens, make it cheap will not lost lots of money

but attract a lot customers by price comparison

Don't know, personally I don't think so. In the previous professional autofocus line, they had a 400 and a 600. Pentax never made an autofocusing 500, but they used to have a manual focusing one. My guess is that we may get news about a DA Star 400 f/4.5 or f/5.6 in the next update of the lens roadmap. A 400 on APS-C will give similar field of view as a 600 lens on 35mm format.

What is most important is to bring out midlevel telezooms. There is quite a gap between the announced DA Star tele's and the DA 50-200 f/4-5.6. Pentax are working on a 55-300 zoom, but it seems to build upon the 50-200 - so it is consumer level. What I miss is a midlevel telephoto zoom

Oh, and I would welcome a DA 135 f/2.8 ED SDM.

Agreed - a 500/4 is very unlikely - soon Sigma will release a 500/4.5 which is supposedly very sharp. As for the others, be patient...

Pentax does still have nothing above 200mm on the market. Announced is the DA*6-250 and the DA*300. Quite nice, but still a bit weak for wildlife and especially birding.

I would welcome either a DA(*)400 or even a DA 80-400 SDM.
