I like how it has a "cross process" mode for when people want to get "All Lomo".

This camera is a great mix of high specs, good features, and a bit of fun.

I wonder if the 15 to 20 year old crowd will notice this camera?

I think I messed up by not selling my K10 and K-7 before this announcement :P.

Seriously though, brilliant move by Pentax. This camera is unbelievable for the price and I can see this making a huge dent.

Red = ugly
Navy = somehow more boring than straight black
White = stormtrooper, very cool
Black = standard for the serious shooter

I think some of the Japan-only colours are much nicer than the red or the navy & should have been used instead for the rest of the world.

As for features, I´m disappointed there´s no weathersealing. I still wouldn´t buy this over my K200D. Battery life looks outstanding & some of the other upgrades from the K-m look very nice too.

But, virtually all Pentax models include more features than similarly-priced competition & are often better built & with better ergonomics too, they still fail to sell the high volumes simply because they are Pentax. This is what the marketing dept need to focus on, and the colours are a good move for this, if only they´d chosen better ones...

You're just mad you can't afford it since you have a K200D. :-P

I think with a bit of good marketing, store presence and some positive reviews, this camera could do very well.

For the amateur/semi-pro, Pentax has a bit of a drawback in the smaller lens selection, lack of rental options, less developed flash system etc... Some people also perceive the lack of a full frame upgrade path and the generally shaky position of the brand of the martketplace as drawbacks.

For the beginner, none of this matters. The Kx will be the only camera in this price bracket to offer such an advanced AF system, such high FPS, HD video, so many in-camera processing options etc... This looks to be a brilliant camera for the money - if Canon made it it would sell like hotcakes. I really hope Pentax market it well, so I can stop worrying about them going bust

IS IT TRUE? it's the silliest thing I ever knew

NO AF indication display?

this is a real bummer in an otherwise great spec'd camera.

hmmm.... my guess is that the AF point selected can be displayed on Live View.

Would it kill them to just let us choose and view the farking AF points??? She needs a second wheel too, if it had both of those i'd buy it but alas.

Wait AA batteries, I loathe them.

I assume (sincerely hope?) they will be there full-time in Live View, at least.

I would get a K-7 if it had the same sensor as the K-x.

That's sad that someone is making a statement like this. We don't know the performance of the sensor yet. Will be interesting to see, I agree. Hopefully it doesn't beat out the K-7 sensor, that would anger LOTS of K-7 early adopters.

now, it seem like really reasonable camera but missing 2nd E-dial is shame and status LCD would be nice... anyway, with K-7 and now this K-x, is there any gap for KX00D replacement?
I'd really like this new sensor in K-7 size body of metal chasis and plastic shell (a la KXXD) but WRed. But I suppose they'd bee too close to each other

For anyone who says they hate AA batteries, I challenge you to find a 7-11 or servo that'll let you borrow a power point for a coupla hours it takes to charge a dedicated LiIon at one in the morning.

It looks good. A nice, logical upgrade - a few more pixels and FPS, and, of course, the ubiquitous video.

But the colour's a good move. I'll bet there's a ton of people out there who will be swayed by the colour - no, really. These are those who just want an SLR for snaps, and who couldn't really give a damn about the minute differences in resolution, or speed, or what motor it uses to focus. It's a good market, and as far as "proper"-style cameras go, relatively untapped so far, since cameras makers seem to be following the Henry Ford philosophy of chromatics.

What's a bet Ned Bunnell had something to do with the red one, eh?
