And it's an idea that, as silly as it sometimes sounds, definitely works to appeal to the market segment that is buying new toys not purely based on spec alone.

Great move, if you ask me, that really makes their products stand out from the rest.

It reminds me of the Kodak Vanity series. Apple got the same idea, and now it's Pentax's turn

A lot of those color combos are really ugly. They should just stick with the black grip or offer the grip in the same color as the body.
You cannot say this, you have to vote for it with the color combination "I love" feature. Otherwise, your voice doesn't count

Currently, it is (????????????PENTAX K-x ????????):

Body x Grip:
  1. white x black
  2. silver x black
  3. navy x black
  4. silver x brown
  5. red x black
  6. orange x black
  7. olive x brown
  8. chocolate x black
  9. yellow x black
  10. black x black

So, the standard black x black is rank 10 only

I too think this is a smart marketing move, targeting the market segment comprising of consumers who are not seriously into SLR sytem, yet want to upgrade from a point and shoot.

The colors look cool

The red one with my Bigma attached would confuse Canikon people very much : -)

Seriously though, the ISO 200 shots looked good from the link in another thread.

You made my point for me. Black grip or matching color grip are the best choices. There are a few other combos which are colorful, but who is going to want lavender/brown?

LOL!
Actually, if they could just make colored lens hood, esp one for the 40mm pancake, it would look very cool already.

I dont see this as a problem....afterall we have a fellow pentaxian in Japan who can order the body for us
Mike Cash where are u?
You can actually order it yourself through a shopping agent. Pick your favorite color in the Pentax site and give your order to the Crescent Shop – Shopping from Japan - Crescent Trading

I have used this on several occasions and Masamichisan is always very helpful. You will pay a fee and the shipping from Japan, of course, but then you have a unique camera!
