I think Pentax is going to come out with a true HDR capable DSLR. It will have 3 parallel processors to simultaneously capture -2, 0, +2 ev files which can later be combined with HDR software. Simultaneous capture will allow HDR without blur due to movement (of camera or subject).

The K-x has more features than any other entry level camera.
Really?
With old 16-segments metering, SAFOX 8 and without AF indicators in VF, and AF assist lamp?

Hoya goes in new ways - K-7/K-x.
The line of DS/K100D/K200D is dead. It's sad for me.

So, we now have
  1. the K-7 replacing the top-of-the-line K20D, and
  2. the K-x, replacing the K200D, and
  3. the K2000, replacing - um, well, does this replace anything? I'm not sure.
You got it wrong here. K-x replaces K-m (aka K2000 in USA).

We won't see K200D's replacement.

Really dude?

I mean really.

HD video, in camera HDR, almost 5 fps, 2.7 inch LCD for $650.

How much does the 1000D (no HD video) and the D3000 (no HD video) cost again?

Oh, and the fact that you have to get up to a 500D or a D90 ($1000-$1200) to get those features.

I just think it would be a huge mistake for Pentax to only have their $1200+ body have weathersealing, since they've been pushing their outdoor image a lot lately.
The K-m was pushed just as hard here in Japan as one for the Mum's.
A completely different target audience.
With the K-x, they'll continue that(imo), and also target a young crowd with the colour scheming of its body, compact size and video.
I think that it's important to keep that for the entry level side of things.

Not wanting to compare, but Pentax will want to eat into the lower-end market that gives us the Canon Kiss, Olympus EP-1, and Panasonics.
I think it will do just that with the K-x.

Well, yes.
You can put that argument forward, but that's you looking at a camera from an experienced photographers perspective.
For someone that just wants to enjoy taking pics and shooting a few videos, just getting into photography, going on holiday with a small, compact DSLR, etc., they won't be comparing such features, I imagine.

a 11-16mm f2.8 tokina rebadge in da* style plus a sealed sdm tc please.

D5000 has a bit higher price.

4.7 fps with 5 RAW buffer is funny.
I don't like JPEG HDR, video with 230 000 LCD with manual focus.
For video, I have video camera.

I don't like gadgets.

I can't shoot without AF points in VF. It's hard for me. And it's silly.

It's Pentax 90th birthday in November.....would be nice to see something, but if not, I'm happy to see some new life in the product line. (I still want them to release a LX FF)

.....and AF in the VF. Who the hell is using a view finder that wants to step up to a DSLR from their point and shoot?

This might not be for you....it isn't supposed to be....

I think it's going to go over pretty well with the fashion-conscious, accessory-crazy Japanese market, no doubt. What will be neat is that there will be no missing what camera brand the tourists to Vancouver will be carrying!

...and people not too critical of a good-value, entry-level DSLR.
