I think K-x is not Pentax. It's HOYA.

The first HOYA camera was K-m. Not bad, not very good. Simple and cheap.

K-x is real POPS.
HOYA looks like SONY now, but smaller. They want to sell gadgets, not photo cameras.

K-x is typical camera which made marketing, not engineers.

Let's be honest.

K-x is typical construction set.

The sensor - not bad CMOS from SONY - "new, but old", rather cheap now.

The processor - old PRIME II.

The body - old K-m.

AF - 11 AF points, but no AF indicators - NO. Like in K-m. Shame.

The controls - like in K-m.

Video - just for fun and for declaration - WE HAVE VIDEO in DSLR.
Good? 1280x720@24 with mono and manual focus with 2.7" LCD. it's not serious.

FPS - yes, 4.7 FPS, but buffer is 5 RAW. 11 RAW just at 2 fps.

Metering - OLD 16-segment metering

Shutter Speed - downgrade of K-7's shutter.
Don't forget - the base ISO = ISO200, not 100.
1/6000 is some kind of trick too.

Sv mode - I think it's interesting mode, but we use it very rare.

All this info - 12.4 MP, 4.7 FPS, 720P video, 1/6000 are some kind of marketing to attract masses, not real photo amateurs.

Which camera can HOYA offer for advanced amateurs? Only one. K-7.
It's good machine, but not cheap.

HOYA doesn't want to offer something like K200D, E-30, E-620, D90 or A550.
HOYA can't offer lens roadmap for the customers.
:ugh:

I don't think it's bad, I don't think it's good... But HOYA moves in another way, not like Pentax did.

Pentax of 2009 is not my Pentax.

It's aimed to the average buyer.
Target: Christmas and New Year sales
Rather cheap and full featured, for Reese Witherspoon type of character.

Man, are you serious?
I just about disagree with every point you made.

But which part of your ranting is considered "News" or "Rumors"?

It might be better than the one in K-7. I suppose it's the a700 with some extra care to it.

The processor - old PRIME II.
NEW. As in K-7.

AF - 11 AF points, but no AF indicators - NO. Like in K-m. Shame.
11 as in K-7. Same VF as K-m means no overlay. Not sure if it's such a shame.

Video - just for fun and for declaration - WE HAVE VIDEO in DSLR.

A "must" have these days in the class a half or one step up. Using it is not mandatory.

FPS - yes, 4.7 FPS, but buffer is 5 RAW. 11 RAW just at 2 fps.
[BYes, but better i jpeg. But it's better to get specification driven buyers than none, right?[/B]

1/6000 is some kind of trick too.
Yes, pls bring back the 1/4000! :ugh:

Pentax of 2009 is not my Pentax.
Two exciting releases this year. What's not to like?

On the contrary. K10D was not completely Pentax. It was half-Samsung, now this year we got REAL Pentax. The K-7. IMO even the K-x is more Pentax than K20D.

Now I agree that many will miss in the Pentax lineup something like the K200D. But admit it - it was a comercial failure. They succeeded with K-m, so logically they try to build on this success.

Nonsense. K10D was NEVER 50% SAMSUNG. Samsung gave 5% to this camera. K20D was 50% from Samsung.
K-x is MORE HOYA than Pentax.

K-x will have big success only in Japan and Asian market. IMO.

I don't think so...Many PR and AD's noise.
For me, K-7 and K-x are gadgets.

I understand - NO VIDEO and LV, NO SALES.

With that perspective, all cameras after the K1000 are filled with gadgets

This is just ridiculous

K-x is incredible value for money in the beginner's segment. It's just logical to add video to this kind of camera, since those upgrading from P&S will want it. And everything else is also specced like a more expensive camera. I can't believe you complain about that. It's not like it's a toy, in many respects it's a better camera than my K10D.

Just add 11 AF points with VF indicators then I will trade my K-m for it. The K-x is feature packed but misses what I need the most. :ugh:
