2. 645D will be launched on spring, 2010. Very good featured. Very good price.
I just read

Pentax Digital 645 Prototype: A First Look - Pro SLR / Digital Backs - DigitalCameraInfo.com

and I have to say, I'm a bit excited. I'm toeing the line between picking my digital camera (I have a Rebel XT, but I'd really like is a camera I could use 70's era lenses on). I'm teetering between Pentax (because I have Pentax lenses now) and Nikon (because of the full frame option).

But I was thinking, "You know what would really tip me over the edge? If I could use K mount lenses on a 645."

I mean, heck. Even if I lose two or even three F-stops, I would say "Sod the Nikon!". So my 50mm 1.7 is a 4 at best, at least I have the ability to use it on a much bigger sensor in the future.

All sorts of rumours regarding the 645D price....does anyone actually really know? My guess is $12,000 USd. (Body only)

By the way...be on the lookout for a dual-sensor (ASP-C and 35mm) digital within the next 14 months.

Errrr.... How are you going to use your 24x36mm Pentax lenses on the 645D's 36x48mm sensor?

.

That's the smaller problem (and may not even be a problem for some lenses?). The bigger problems is that you can only use the lenses for macro, because of the much larger register distance of the 645 cameras.

It's kinda wild if you think about it, 45 months ago

It's kinda wild if you think about it, 45 months ago only canon made full frame canon's.

Kodak had stopped producing nikon mount full frames and prior discontinued their full frame canons and Nikon themselves had not made a full frame yet. Now they've made D3, D700, D3x, D3s

Sony had not made a full frame yet. Now they've made A900, A850

Leica had not made a full frame yet. Now M9 is due to market

Panasonic was on no one's radar with their micro 4/3 mount G Series. They have three bodies whereas they had none and all three still sell

And 45 months ago Pentax was showing off their upcoming 645D which they had shown off previously prior couple years.

So much has happened with Pentax' "competetion" and yet still no 645D.

And the hot rumor, full frame k mount in 2010, thats just 50 days away...

I'll rumour Full Frame K is 50 days plus 45 months away at a minimum.

I bet this is the last year we see high spec APS-C bodies (ie D300s, 7D) cheaper then low spec FF bodies (ie A850 and rumored A750). I know this is a difficult one to gauge, as prices vary across markets.

Maybe this has already happened? Is the A850 cheaper then the 7D anywhere?

Maybe Pentax didn't get the 645D to market, but they did get the first white DSLR into stores!

No Pentax in my neck of the woods but they did make white right

No Pentax in my neck of the woods but they did make white right. I bet K-7 in white will look right for 2010

If canon were not escalating the megapixel race and made a 2009 era full frame with only 12mp and no HD it would sell below $2,000. The sensor alone runs under $400 installed in a 5D when its in for sensor replacement. Thats parts and labor. How much more should a camera cost when the full frame sensor alone is a $200 item?

Sony 850 $1999.99 Down $0

Canon 7D $1699 Down $0

Nikon D300s $1575 Down $225

Pentax K-7 $1085 Down $215

Learn something new everyday. I just learned that this part of the forum is a big game of, "find the latest internet rumor".

I was thinking some sort of quasi-teleconverter.

Also, I think it's quite nice that one can already use 645 and 67 lenses on the K mount cameras.

In theory, it is possible with a conversion lens, but you'll lose on quality.

Definitely, but if it would make the transition to medium format that much easier, I'd be much more likely get into it.
