Quick note: it's bloody hilarious to see how freakin' huge the Oly E30 is.

Isn't 4/3 meant to leader to tinier cameras? Like seeing an MX parked next to a K1000.

The ONLY one thing which unknown for testers - K-7 has NO any NR in RAW. At all. Till ISO1600. K20D (D300/50D too) has.

It's PLUS, not MINUS. NR is in photographer hands.

I say only about RAW.

use Russian translator

K-7 has NO NOISE REDUCTION in RAW till ISO below 1600. Start to work from ISO1600.

K20D and K-m has NR in RAW at ALL ISO. But K-m has better shadows.

K200D's NR in RAW start to work from ISO800.

I know it is a plus! I was just arguing with some Canikon folks about NR, I already told them that theirs do NR when set to OFF

I hope I could show the results of 50D. Canon was the first who started to use NR in RAW. Invisible technology .
Then SONY A700. But Sony said about it in press-release.

Pretty good and fair review overall.

Will be interesting to see what they say about the K-x.

Wish they would stop basing the majority of the review on the JPEG performance for a semi-pro camera. Anyone who is likely to notice the differences they complain about will or should be shooting RAW.

Also, 0.2EV less DR than the D300 is not really enough for me to make a negative strike against it. The highlight DR is a bit weak, but more range in the shadows just means a different exposure is optimal.

Kind of a mixed bag of a review in my opinion. While it's relatively positive overall and touches on a lot of the strengths of the K-7, I find it odd that it gets the same score for IQ as the K20D did even though it was fairly evident in their tests that the K20D was superior. I'm not saying it didn't deserve the score it got, but that the 20D should have perhaps scored higher, or that they should keep a more consistent measure.

One thing's for sure - i'm glad I didn't sell my K20D yet - it looks like it's still the better camera as far as ultimate IQ goes, but the review is right in that for the feature set, small form factor, 100% viewfinder, the K-7 can't be ignored right now.

Anybody else seem to notice that the ISO 200 crop seems to lack detail compared to the ISO 200 image on the bottom of pg 15 RAW Noise tests? This seems to indicate to me that the base ISO of the camera is really 200 and should be left there for optimal image quality.
