not raggin' on you, Jack, but on the powers that be. The Americans get, like, six months, and they get discounts on everything, including lenses, flash units, etc. We get two little deals for two weeks.

Pentax Canada blows...

BS... this is rather sad that we can just walk accross the boarder and buy the K-7 @ $1199USD, maybe we can get $100 USD rebate and evade tax too...

why pay $1599 - $150?

to be fair, you will usually find it for less than 1599, at least in TO. I typically see around 1400.

The K-7 is $1,196 CDN here in Canada on E-Bay (free shipping) so that is pretty competitive. Now if you take the $100 rebate off of that, it becomes very attractive!

Just make sure that the retailer is listed on Pentax Canadas website. Otherwise no dice.

I wasn't told about this at the Henry's show on Saturday - will have to check what it means since I picked up the K7 and an eligible lens.

Picking it up in the States is the only real option at this point - given the price disparity between Can/US, and given that the Loon/Greenback are almost on par right now.

Wait until the new year when the after-Christmas sales hit and when the Can dollar is worth more than the US dollar.

Just checked on Pentax Canada website - putting in postal code N5A 2P6. All three Carmen Fotosource (aka Prodigital2000) locations are listed. I think it is a legit authorized dealer in Ontario.

Do you mean US thanksgiving Friday (black Friday)? US thanksgiving should be on the third Thursday of November.

This is an "instant" rebate, not mail-in. So unless the retailer advertises the extra $100 off in its sale price, they may have already factored this into the cost...

Too bad there's no lens only rebeate... would love an 18-55 WR. I just found out that 18-55 mk1 on K10D is veeeery bad

I'm just spoiled by my better zooms (the Fisheye and Tamron) and the primes

Why anyone would overpay for Pentax products in Canada is just crazy talk. in the USA K20D half the price of Canuck retailers. DA* 60-250 almost half price and K7D 33% less. And to resort back to the FleaBay fiaso of looking for old lenses(New in this case) is not an option for those that have no trust in ebay.

So Pentax Canada thows a bone that is not even good enough to make me even think about it. Funny how some lenses and one body are on the verge of being priced right. Go figure.. Pass...

Interestingly enough I have an old mk1 kit lens from my DS (early 2005) and it was very good on the K-7. I think bad copy syndrome is the problem since another FA zoom I bought with the DS was much, much worse than the kit lens contrary to everyone else's findings.
