nothing bugs me more today than the fact I can't use my 31mm for its intended purpose - a WIDE ANGLE.

Actually, you can use it exactly the way it was meant to be - on film SLR

Oh man. I SO know what you are talking about. I`m taking it out with my film SLR sometimes, and its a real pleasure.

Agree, only difference is that I used Mamiya RB67 gear. I believe that, with proper PP and printing, digital B&W prints can now equal the old medium format results.

I recently viewed a local exhibition of digital B&W prints about 20x24 inches. They were superb and I am quite critical when it comes to B&W.

David,
From what I understand, digital cameras have to filter out the color to produce B&W images. If that really is the case, there is a loss of quality in the translation from one form to the other. For that reason, I'm thinking about having a true monochromatic sensor installed in the Kodak DCS ProSLR/n, since they have an even higher signal-to-noise ratio than color sensors, and the pixels aren't divided between separating the three components for color. So for me, I'd rather have the advantage of a TRUE Monochrome sensor. Just read some of the specifications for the monochrome sensors that are available, and you'll quickly see what I mean.

Thanks god...some folks life goal is to shoot a crop sensor...but not mine. Pentax is severely wounded without FF and/or a MF camera....

Something about your predictions bugs me, ogl... :ugh:
It's seems you know all this inside information about Pentax's developments, as if you work for them, and indulge in teasing us with little tidbits of rumours here and there...

Or is it that you really don't know but make out as if you do with your definitive speculations...

Not in 2009, in 2010. The waiting could take approx. 9-10 months.
FIX your life.

Anyway, we could see premature, but strong baby.

Other than for the rest of you to have a camera that's compatible with your existing lenses. But for me not having a digital SLR system, there's absolutely no advantage of 14Mpix over the Kodak DCS ProSLR/n I already intended to get with essentially the same resolution. And for less than any new camera Pentax is going to offer in full-frame. Let me see. The choice is a fully professional body built for heavy abuse, against a consumer level product. Ah, no brainer here!

Pentax lost credibility for me with the demise of the LX and their medium format cameras. I wonder if the new camera is really something built by Sigma? As it was Sigma who built the Canon version of the Kodak ProSLR/c. Just wondering.

Sorry, I know I'm stepping into deep sh....

The Kodak DCS ProSLR/n (and /c) had some pretty awsome specs for their time, and they sure look sturdy, but are they really any more "built for heavy abuse" than the K-7? Do they have weather seals at all? Aren't they ridiculously slow dogs compared to more modern cameras?
