The K-x has such a weak AA filter, which is a really nice change of pace in Pentaxland. Look at the sharpness in the hair and fabric, but also hints of moire (no biggie) in the indoor shot...

I don't compare in-camera JPEG with different parameters. it's useless.

I compare 100% JPEG from RAW thru LR 3.0.

I see D300s has more contrast and sharpness than K-x.

But...K-x has less noise, more natural colours and film-like picture.

Be aware when looking at the Comparometer that photos are taken with the camera's default jpeg settings.
+1. Yes. D300s has less sharpness in settings and e.t.c.
The comparison is not correct. That's why I made the comparison from RAW.

Well, the K10D has a weak AA filter too - sometimes it's too weak to my taste, quite often I get very visible moire.

About the samples: Wow, impressing! Even the high-NR in-camera JPEGs at ISO 12800 could be usable at least for web use, including 12800 isn't just a gimmick.

K-x has no NR in RAW till 3200. Like K-7.

moire is indeed visible in the K-x samples (here K-7 and K-x at iso 100):

Is it JPEG? I don't see that AA filter is weak in RAW files.

I Am Blown Away By K-x Performance !

It is the best high ISO camera I have ever had ..... by far.

It is sad that the K-7 does not have this sensor, I'm sure there are folks who are sitting on the fence waiting for the next gen of Pentax high end cameras to hit the market, and did not buy the K-7 because the sensor was not to there liking at higher ISO ranges.

...and with the K-x sensor in the K-7, they might've been sitting on the fence because another spec didn't meet their requirements (resolution, framerate, whatever...)

What I see

is an unusual set of qualities/weaknesses

Kx seems to have a very weak AA filter, but despite of this it is softer than D300s, and other cameras at low ISO.

After ISO 1600 it starts to lose a lot less than the competition in APS-C, and even seems to come close to FF offerings in terms of high ISO quality...

so something is different with this sensor, but to my eyes it is a compromise where you lose some resolution/crispness at low ISO and gain perhaps a stop (maybe even more the higher you go) above ISO1600...
