To me it looks just like a good photoshop job. The text which curls around the sides just doesnt follow the contours enough
Plus in a forum full of photographers im sure there are plenty of decent photoshoppers that can whip this up.

Any advertising stuff has the traces of Photoshop. But I don't see any traces here at all...

Well, I dnk about 200mm ...a 60 or 70 and a 135 would be more useful - with the 1.5X factor that would duplicate what existed with 35mm cameras. And, those focal lengths were offered for a reason, why change FOV now?

Couldn't it be a new 645D lens?
Interesting question ...the 645 macro lens previously was a 120mm and with the 1.3X factor with the 645D, 100mm would be about duplicate that focal length.

I think starting a rumor about this lens would be odd. Why not make it something more mouth watering....like a 400mm f/5.6, 85mm f/1.4, or something else missing from the line up.
I believe this rumor.
It won't be a rumor then if it's intended to be mouth-watering from the get-go. That would be one that falls under a wish list.

Don't think so. 645D lenses would be marked DFA 645, or similar.

Good point! Just checked and the existing 645 lenses do show the "645" in the lens designation.

This seems to be photoshoped...

HOWEVER,

I had a conversation with one of the Pentax executives when the K-7 came out. While taking about lens and prices, he mentioned the next Pentax lens would be a ~100mm Macro

So, there WILL be a new Macro lens, and I would think it could be a "Limited".

A lot of people are commenting on the image being photoshopped; the image of the lens looks like a CAD (Computer Aided Design) drawing. Images like this are made on CAD by engineers. It's a mock up of the final product with color and texture compared to a wire diagram. I've seen images like this at work when new products are being designed or finalized. This is usually before production begins though. Depending on the date of the image, this lens might be in production already or getting close to being.

Thats sad, we don't really need another 100mm macro.. a 150mm like the Sigma 150 would be cool (even a 180 or 200) but not another 100...

Well there's a 200 but... 'kinda' expensive second hand
Seriously, yes a reedited 200 macro would be fine but I suspect Pentax thought in a FOV point of view: 35/2.8 replaces 50/2.8, 50->100 and 100->200mm. This isn't perfect at all IMO because 50,75,150 isn't quite the same as 50,100,200 (on FF)...

Still 200 macro on APS-C is about 300 on film. Not sure they'd sell many of'em if they only have APS-C cameras.

A 200/2,8 macro with matching teleconverters (1,4x and 2x) would be the definitive lens for nature photographer. I have the A*200macro with the L converters and it's magical, but one stop more and AF would make it perfect.

Well I've had a close look at the photo, definately isn't chopped and shppped.

I passed it by a contact of mine here in Aus and they have confirmed that the lense is indeed the real deal, but didn't know anymore details on release or anything.

Cool, if this indeed is true, I am happy. I am one of those complaining that curent Pentax macro offerings aren't competitive enough. Weather sealing, small size and built quality would be good reasons to chose it over third party lenses. Current DFA 100 macro doesn't have much going for it IMO.
Lets hope those wanting DA*200 macro will get it one day as well, but this is definitely good move. Will blend nicely with the limiteds.
