I wouldn't be surprised if we see a version of that ad showing up in some English-language markets soon. I guess it hasn't been made just as a web video, so there must be scope for it to appear on TV.

I really like that video. As an ad, it is very well assembled - good storyline, strong visuals, nice pace, good product highlighting etc.

It's too long for TV I think - it is about 60 seconds duration. For TV use it would need to be shorter - eg 30 seconds. Would need some editing.

The French version carries three awards represented in the last sequence:

The ads are posted by youtubers "PENTAXDACH" and "PentaxFrance". Both have little other content. We must see the early days of new marketing activities. Both seem to be authentic Pentax accounts.

PENTAXDACH should be read as "Pentax D A CH" or PentaxGermanyAustriaSwitzerland which is the German-speaking part of Europe. DACH is marketing slang like EMEA for EuropeMiddleEastAfrica (used by some US companies).

I agree that 60s is very long for a TV ad. However, some TV ads in Germany run this long. It is rather common to launch a campaign to run a full 60s ad a few times and then run shorther versions, 30s or 15/20s, to keep the ad in memory.

And while I agree that the ad is nice I must also say that it is just that, nice. The desert ad by Pentax made in the fifties was great.

One interesting feature of all these offical Pentax YT user profiles is that none of them have each other marked as Friends or Subscribers.

Eg PentaxDACH has 4 friends and 13 subscribers but none of those are pentaxfrance or pentaxhr, and vice versa. I find that very funny.

Yes, I think this may reveal several things:

(a) Pentax regional distributors are a fragmented bunch who don't talk to each other, let alone attempt to cross-promote or brand-build;

(b) Pentax needs to learn more about how to effectively use the [borderless] online environment as a marketing tool.
